The duration of Kylian Mbappe’s suspension has been made public ahead of a crucial time for Los Blancos after the Real Madrid talisman got both physically and figuratively angry during his team’s 1-0 victory over Deportivo Alaves on Sunday.
With seven minutes remaining in the first half, Carlo Ancelotti’s team was down one man after Mbappe was sent off for a reckless challenge on Antonio Blanco. The team had taken the lead through a goal from Eduardo Camavinga in the 34th minute.
Cesar Soto Grado, the referee, first gave Mbappe a yellow card, but after a VAR review, he changed his mind and gave him his first red card in the Spanish capital. Grado gave a reason for his choice in the match report.
In a struggle for the ball, he described it as “a tackle with the foot in a studs-up position at the height of an opponent’s shin, using excessive force.”
Additionally, the way Grado described the on-field incident has led them to believe that a one-match suspension will be the result because Mbappe pushed for possession of the ball, according to Spanish publication COPE.
Elsewhere, former Primera Division referee Iturralde Gonzalez evaluated the incident and how many matches he may miss as a result. “Mbappe will face Article 130 because he hasn’t removed the opponent from the field. It’s extremely evident,” he remarked, per Realmadrid Confidencial.
One to two matches are suspended as punishment. For me. Real Madrid will make an appeal if they give him three, but it should be two. He need to participate in the Cup final every year.
That would keep Mbappe from playing on April 20 when Real Madrid hosts Athletic Club, and it’s unclear if he’ll be available for their trip to Getafe three days later. He will be happy to hear, though, that he may play in their Copa del Rey final on April 26 against Barcelona.
In an exclusive interview with Football Insider, former PGMOL chairman and former FIFA referee Keith Hackett has called for Mbappe, who is considered to be among the top players in the world of football, should be suspended for ten games for his outburst against Alaves.

Given the magnitude and seriousness of Mbappe’s challenge, supporters are furious to learn that the 26-year-old could be suspended for one to two games. “What a joke,” one person wrote. For a careless tackle without intending to go for the ball, the penalty is a standard three-match suspension.
Another fan suggested that Blanco was fortunate to escape unharmed by Mbappe’s reckless tackle, but claimed that the player should receive at least a five-match suspension because he demonstrated little to no desire to win the ball.
“There ought to be more. He had no intention of attending the ball. He could have easily broken a leg because he was only aiming for his leg. must play at least five games or till the end of the season.
11.
“What a farce. For a careless tackle without intending to go for the ball, the penalty is a standard three-match suspension. A fourth person remarked, “There is no way this isn’t corruption,” after another emphasised. Despite their white uniforms, Real Madrid is an extremely filthy team.
“I sincerely hope that other La Liga teams band together to call out this bullshit. To date, it is the most obvious instance of corruption, let alone favouritism.
One fan even went so far as to propose that the French striker be suspended for the remainder of the 2024–2025 La Liga season. “Ridiculous, should be out for the rest of the La Liga season.” As one last fan put it: “This league is a complete and utter farce.”
