During his visit to the Spurs’ stadium, King Charles managed to make a comment that was extremely awkward to Heung-Min Son, who is the captain of the Spurs.
The Visit of His Royal Highness to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium took place on Wednesday. The purpose of the visit was to observe the “positive socio-economic” impact that the club is having in the community where it is located.
After walking out onto the pitch, he observed a session from The Huddle Project, which is a project that was delivered by the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, the NFL Foundation, and Nike. He also met a number of people who have benefited from the various programs and initiatives that the club has supported.
Additionally, the King was presented with commemorative gifts from Spurs and the National Football League. Additionally, he was introduced to Bethany England, the women’s captain of the women’s team, Efe Obada, a British-born NFL player, and Phoebe Schecter, the captain of the GB Women’s Flag Football team.
But when he spoke to Son, the monarch had an awkward conversation with the South Korean star, and he was blissfully unaware of Spurs’ recent struggles. Additionally, the conversation was uncomfortable.
After being asked about the upcoming match, Son, who had previously played for Hamburg, disclosed that Spurs will be playing United on Sunday. Son is 76 years old.
“I hope so,” Son responded to King Charles’s inquiry about whether or not Spurs had a “good chance.” Following that, the King pondered whether or not “the team is in order at the moment” while chairman Daniel Levy was also present in the background.
Son acknowledged that Spurs are in a “difficult moment” but that they “are working hard” despite the fact that they are currently in 14th place in the Premier League and that their only chance of winning a trophy is in the Europa League.
ESPN uploaded a video of the interaction, and users on Reddit couldn’t help but comment on it to express their reactions.
A particular fan commented: “Levy’s face lmao, he was preparing for Sonny to say we’re s**t.”
An additional person made the following observation: “He was looking for the appropriate words because his brain was immediately offering only swear words instead.”
An additional individual stated: “Sonny couldn’t break poor Grandpa Charles’ heart by telling him what what he really thinks.”
An additional individual wrote, “I mean, at least he’s honest.”
A final user made a joke of the following: “Must be good to be the king and take the p*** out of absolutely anyone.”
Who’s the person that King Charles backs?
After a visit to Turf Moor, the King was offered a VIP season ticket and a place in their directors’ box. It is interesting to note that the King has announced his commitment to Burnley, a team that competes in the Championship, in the year 2010.
Following that, in 2012, he confirmed his support for the Clarets by attending a reception and dinner hosted by the British Asian Trust.
On account of this, a few of you inquired this evening as to whether or not I am a supporter of a British football club, and I responded by saying, “Yes, Burnley.”
The response that people have given is, ‘Burnley?’ I am trying to find ways to help regenerate and raise aspirations and self-esteem in that part of the world, and Burnley has been through some very challenging times. Oh, yes, because I am trying to find ways to help.
