Kim Hellberg, the head coach of Middlesbrough FC, criticizes the heart-over-head strategy following Blackburn Rovers’ draw.

Against Blackburn Rovers, Kim Hellberg believed Middlesbrough played with their emotions rather than their brains.

Despite having lots of possession against Blackburn, the home team was unable to score. Hellberg’s team was not at their most daring, but Blackburn was able to neutralize them.

In his post-match evaluation, Hellberg acknowledged that the performance was “not good enough” since the game ended goalless.

Kim Hellberg’s evaluation

“I think the performance was not good enough,” he stated. Although we’ve put on a lot of strong displays recently, I believe this outcome was quite fair because we didn’t deserve anything more than a draw.

“We have to accept the outcome since we are dissatisfied with the performance. After taking it in, we must endeavor to get better.

“We weren’t performing to our full potential. We had a few moments, but overall, we didn’t play the game well enough, and we need to own up to that, grow, and learn from it.

There are days when things are more difficult and the technical proficiency is lower than it has been in the past.

It was an open game for them because of the numerous turnovers caused by slips. A few balls were lost. It’s going to be about managing expectations for us, as you could see the boys were wanting to accomplish everything.

Everyone was giving Middlesbrough their all, and when it didn’t quite work, we all tried even more.

However, we lost some structure and control because it seemed like we were attempting to play with our hearts solely, leaving our heads out of the game.

“We have to learn from this; it stems from wanting to do everything for everyone here.”

The perspective of Blackburn Rovers

Valerien Ismael, the manager of Blackburn, was undoubtedly happier than the other head coach and praised his team for playing “at the limits.”

“I think this is our way to work,” he stated. We want to give ourselves a chance to stay in any game with our mindset since we know we are well-organized.

It’s a positive move for the players and the backline, in my opinion. Due to the growing number of injuries, we have been working with a large number of academy youngsters.

“Sticking together and allowing everyone to contribute to the team is the only way we can survive. Although we all want to win games, there are instances when you have to adjust to the opponent and the circumstances.

“We’re doing great right now; all we need to do is keep moving forward as a team and ensure that everyone on the field is prepared to play.

“You have to play at the limits if you want to get something at Middlesbrough, and the boys did that well.”
