Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s outstanding performance in Paris Saint-Germain’s 1-0 loss against the Reds demonstrated why many have hailed him as a possible Mohamed Salah successor at Liverpool.
Harvey Elliott’s late smash-and-grab goal sealed their UEFA Champions League tie, even though the Georgian attacker deserved to win. After entering the game in the 86th minute, the English midfielder buried the ball past Gianluigi Donnarumma one minute later.
Inexplicably, PSG lost their first game of 2025 and left the game without scoring. However, Kvaratskhelia was outstanding, leading the team with Ousmane Dembele and providing an explanation for the Parisians’ £59 million January transfer window payment to Napoli for his services.

Salah is the best player on the Kop at Liverpool, and Premier League fans have been treated to some of the most amazing, devious wingers in football history. The growth of Cristiano Ronaldo into a five-time Ballon d’Or winner began as a polished right-winger at Manchester United, and Eden Hazard was Chelsea’s attacking gem for many years.
With fast feet, lightning-fast pace, and a relentless eye for goal, Kvaratskhelia put on a dominant display that supporters also saw during the aforementioned trio’s tenure in the English top division. He scored with a spectacular curling effort, but the goal was disallowed for offside. He had four efforts on goal, all of which were hit with venom.

With an accuracy rate of 88%, the 24-year-old rarely wasted a ball, and twice his captivating dribbling broke through the visitors’ defence. With two crucial passes and two crosses, he also demonstrated his ability to create plays. With all of Europe watching, many of PSG’s Champions League competitors would be asking why they didn’t jump in January.
Liverpool Supporters Are Astounded by Kvaratskhelia
Prior to his arrival to PSG, he was associated with the Reds.

Considering the amount of pressure Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate endured throughout the Parc des Princes, the Anfield supporters will be thrilled with the win. At its forefront, Kvaratskhelia skilfully connected with Dembele and Bradley Barcola, winning acclaim from Liverpool supporters.
Early in January, Fabrizio Romano stated in his GIVEMESPORT newsletter that Kvaratskhelia was attracting interest from Chelsea, Manchester United, and Liverpool. After his performance today, one Reds supporter believes the Premier League leaders ought to have pounced: “Watching this makes me cry thinking about how we had a genuine interest in signing Kvaratskhelia.”
With Salah’s contract ending in the summer, there is increasing speculation over his future at Anfield. One supporter, however, expressed a desire for the former Napoli player to have replaced Luis Diaz: “We desperately needed a winger like Kvaratskhelia, but still we’re stuck with Diaz.”
‘The Anfield Buzz’, a Liverpool fan channel, echoed such thoughts:
How excellent is Kvaratskhelia? He is truly exceptional, and we ought to have given him and Napoli whatever they desired.”
How good is Kvaratskhelia!? We should have paid whatever him and Napoli wanted, he's absolutely outstanding! 🔥🔥🔥#PSGLIV pic.twitter.com/P5nP5FY2Qv

He would have been ‘liked’ at Anfield, according to another fan, who believes it’s ‘criminal’ that no other club attempted to sign him. It’s unfortunate that the January Kvaratskhelia rumours didn’t materialise. Another fan concluded, “He’s better than Diaz at everything.” The 40-cap Georgia international has undoubtedly raised his profile, and PSG will be hoping he can turn the tide away from home the following week.
