Kevin De Bruyne, a midfielder for Manchester City, has finally disclosed the manner in which he learnt that the club will not renew his current contract. The manner in which he learnt this is not what you would anticipate.
with the beginning of April, De Bruyne, who is 33 years old, made the announcement that he will be leaving Manchester City in a statement that was uploaded on his social media accounts. He is now in the final couple of months of his time with the club.
When he leaves the club, he will have won the Premier League six times, and he is largely considered to be one of the finest playmakers to have ever competed in the English top-flight.
Yesterday, he began for City in their 2-0 victory over Everton at Goodison Park. When he was substituted late in the game, a group of Everton supporters even cheered him off the field from the stands.
On the other hand, what he stated after the game could come as a surprise to the fans.
On Saturday, De Bruyne gave an interview to the media in which he stated that he was taken aback by the fact that he was not given a new contract.
He went into further detail about the matter and said that he had learnt of the club’s decision during a brief conversation with Txiki Begiristain, the Director of Football for City, and Ferran Soriano, the Chief Executive Officer of the league.
According to De Bruyne, “There was more than a little bit of shock.” Throughout the entire year, they did not make any offers to me, and the club ultimately made a choice.
“Of course, I was a little taken aback by it, but I have no choice but to accept it. To tell you the truth, I still believe that I am capable of performing at this level, as I am now demonstrating, but I am aware that clubs are required to make judgements.
After that, he stated that he had a difficult time in the days that followed since not all of his family members were at home.
De Bruyne continued by saying, “It took me a week and a half before I reported it out, and it was not pleasant.” A member of my family was absent.
“It was a little strange coming from them because they were on vacation, but it is what it is.
It was a greater sense of relief when I disclosed it to the outside world once the choice had been taken and when I came out, in comparison to the time when I knew and nobody else knew.
“You are at a loss for what to do with the emotion that affects everyone, and you are unsure of how to deal with it at the club.
“Now that it’s out, everything is wonderful, and a lot of people can see how I am. I make it a point to perform to the best of my abilities and help the team win games. For me, playing football is the best thing in the world.
