Karim Benzema, who spent years as Ronaldo’s understudy, has responded to his former Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo’s claims that he is the most complete football player of all time. The Portuguese superstar stirred up controversy on social media when he declared himself the greatest player of all time, ignoring players like Pele, Diego Maradona, and long-time rival Lionel Messi in the process. Many influential figures in the game have since offered their opinions on the claim, with Angel Di Maria dismissing it outright.
Benzema Responds to Ronaldo’s Greatest Ever Claims
The Frenchman weighed on the topical discussion

In response to a question regarding his thoughts on his former striker partner’s remarks, Benzema stated that he disliked drawing comparisons between players and implied that Ronaldo had every right to feel good about himself. The Al-Ittihad star stated, as translated by GOAL:
“I believe that everyone is free to express themselves. He is the greatest in history if that is his belief. I don’t want to compare players since everyone has a unique story, and Ronaldo’s is a really nice one.”
