Journalist drops bombshell transfer prediction over Liverpool star as Arne Slot faces huge decision

One of the most well-respected journalists in the world has made a shocking prediction regarding Liverpool’s summer transfer plans under Arne Slot.

Giorgi Mamardashvili, a custodian, and Federico Chiesa, a winger, are the only two permanent signings that the Reds have ever completed since Slot arrived. Both of these players joined the club during the summer of last year.

Chiesa has only played a supporting role this season, in part because of a string of injuries, while Mamardashvili is currently on loan at Valencia for the entirety of the 2024/25 season.

It is possible that Liverpool’s official accounts for the 2023/24 season, which were published on Friday, were the cause of the lack of spending that occurred during that current season.

This was primarily due to a drop in media revenue of £38 million that occurred as a result of the club’s failure to qualify for the Champions League, as well as transfer spending on players such as Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, and Ryan Gravenberch. The club recorded a loss of £57 million before taxes for the 2023/24 season.

It would appear that Liverpool will be in a much stronger position when it comes to activity this summer. This is due to the fact that Champions League football will be returning to Anfield this season, as well as the possibility of higher prize money in the Premier League. Additionally, the aforementioned lack of spending in the transfer market will also contribute to this situation.

But before they can move forward, they will need to find solutions to a number of other issues, not the least of which is the imminent expiration of contracts for Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

In addition, Slot will face additional challenges as a result of the arrival of Mamardashvili after he has completed his loan stint with Valencia.

Given that the Reds already have Alisson and Caoimhin Kelleher on their roster, and given that both of them are competing with one another for the number one spot, it is difficult to determine with absolute certainty where the Georgia international will fit in under the current circumstances.

And transfer journalist Graeme Bailey has now predicted that both Mamardashvili and Kelleher will be allowed to join Liverpool in the summer, which would be a decision that would be considered a bombshell.

In an interview with Rousing the Kop, he stated, “I wouldn’t rule out the possibility that Alisson starts the following season, and Mamardashivili might enjoy another season away on loan.”

If Mamardashvili were to accept the number two position during a World Cup year, it would be an incredible thing to see.

It would be possible for them to lend him out, and a team would be able to pay for his wages and pay to have him. It is a situation in which there is no loss. I believe that Mamardashvili will be loaned out if Alisson continues to play for the team.

Since joining Valencia in 2021, the custodian, who is now 24 years old, has already racked up over 100 appearances in La Liga, and he has already earned 27 caps for Georgia.

In light of the fact that Liverpool paid an initial sum of twenty-five million pounds to acquire his services during the summer of 2017, it would be surprising if he were willing to accept a reserve role for the entirety of the current season or even beyond. This is especially true considering that Alisson, who will still be 32 years old when the following season begins, has lots of football left to play at the highest level.
