One of the most well-respected journalists in the world has made a shocking prediction regarding Liverpool’s summer transfer plans under Arne Slot.
Giorgi Mamardashvili, a custodian, and Federico Chiesa, a winger, are the only two permanent signings that the Reds have ever completed since Slot arrived. Both of these players joined the club during the summer of last year.
Chiesa has only played a supporting role this season, in part because of a string of injuries, while Mamardashvili is currently on loan at Valencia for the entirety of the 2024/25 season.
It is possible that Liverpool’s official accounts for the 2023/24 season, which were published on Friday, were the cause of the lack of spending that occurred during that current season.
This was primarily due to a drop in media revenue of £38 million that occurred as a result of the club’s failure to qualify for the Champions League, as well as transfer spending on players such as Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, and Ryan Gravenberch. In an interview with Rousing the Kop, he stated, “I wouldn’t rule out the possibility that Alisson starts the following season, and Mamardashivili might enjoy another season away on loan.”
