In a post that he made on social media after Manchester United’s thrilling victory over Lyon in the Europa League, Joshua Zirkzee made a pointed remark directed at the supporters of the club.
After a spectacular victory in the second leg of the Europa League match at Old Trafford on Thursday, Manchester United secured their place in the semifinals of the competition by defeating Lyon by a score of 7-6 on aggregate.
Fans were dissatisfied with the commentary provided by TNT Sports, which led to the Red Devils claiming a memorable victory over Lyon by a score of 5-4. Harry Maguire scored the game-winning goal in the final minutes of the match.
At the halftime break, the home team held a two-nil lead over Lyon. However, Lyon staged a remarkable comeback, scoring four goals without a single response, including two goals in extra time.
After Bruno Fernandes had scored a goal from the penalty spot, Kobbie Mainoo then curled a fantastic shot into the back of the net. Maguire finished off the comeback in the 121st minute, which prompted Amad Diallo to make a bizarre post on his Instagram account.
However, not all of the fans inside Old Trafford were as seated as they should have been since some of them had departed the stadium after the team had given up their lead.
Zirkzee took note of this, and he made a snide remark about the mood that prevailed after Maguire scored the game-winning goal. He was referring to the spectators that departed the stadium early.
A video of the audience singing was uploaded to his Instagram account, and it was accompanied with the following caption: “To all of the fans that left when we were down. Pay attention to this.
In his post-match interview with TNT Sports, Ruben Amorim made a statement that was quite similar to this one.
“The sounds of the stadium was the best ever,” he stated to reporters. Although there are people who collect scarves and shirts, I want to maintain that sound since it is the finest sound in the entire world.
“My heart goes out to the folks who were forced to leave at four minutes past two due of the gridlock; they will be devastated. We are aware that we are not playing up to expectations and that we are deserving of all the criticism, but we still have time to make this season remarkable.
In the semifinals, Manchester United will compete against Athletic Bilbao, who defeated Rangers. The two legs of the match are scheduled to take place the following month.
