Jose Mourinho tells Arsenal transfer target to join Real Madrid instead

When Nico Williams eventually decides to leave Athletic Bilbao, Jose Mourinho believes he would go to Real Madrid.

On Wednesday afternoon, the Fenerbahce manager will play Williams and the Basque team. In an attempt to grab three points and make a last-minute push for automatic qualification to the Europa League last-16, Mourinho will try to stop the Spain international.

Following an outstanding 2023–24 season in which he played a crucial role in the squad that won Euro 2024, Williams attracted a lot of attention. This season has been more challenging because Williams has only scored two goals in 20 games, although dishing up five assists.

The 22-year-old was strongly linked to a summer transfer to Arsenal and is rumored to have a release clause for over €58 million (£47.8 million). However, Mourinho would rather Williams stay in La Liga.

The former manager of Chelsea and Manchester United declared, “Nico is wonderful,” “Everyone was talking about Yamal, Yamal, Yamal at the most recent Euros. who is undoubtedly yet another outstanding young talent.

However, Nico is a better football player, thus I personally like him. I hope he ends up at Real Madrid since it is unbelievable that a Turkish club could sign him.

After three years in charge and at the Bernabeu, Mourinho said that he still supported the team. “I am very much a Real Madrid fan; they have the best coach in the world, my friend Carlo,” said Mourinho.

They might even think about promoting Arbeloa or Raúl from inside. Florentino [Perez] hasn’t made many bad choices, and I have no doubt that he will make the right choice the next time. I agree with Carlo that we must maintain our composure. The triumphs will follow.

Arsenal might be more inclined to search for defensive reinforcements than forwards if they decide to join the January transfer window. Prior to the Gunners’ Champions League matchup with Monaco, Mikel Arteta did not have Ben White, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Gabriel, Riccardo Calafiori, Jurrien Timber, Oleksandr Zinchenko, or Thomas Partey available for training.
