Atletico Madrid striker Joao Felix is allegedly prepared to take a wage cut to clinch a return to Chelsea.
Felix previously spent the second part of the 2022-23 season on loan at Stamford Bridge, scoring four goals in 20 competitive games before returning to his original club.
The 24-year-old went on to join Barcelona in a season-long loan agreement, collecting 10 goals and six assists in 44 matches during the 2023-24 campaign.
Barcelona first expressed interest in reacquiring the services of the Portugal international, but it seems that a reunion with the Catalan giants is no longer a possibility.
Nevertheless, Felix has the possibility of rejoining one of his previous clubs, as Chelsea is presently engaged in negotiations for a potential agreement with the Atletico player.
Felix made preparations to accept a reduction in his salary at Chelsea.
The Blues expressed early interest in acquiring the services of Samu Omorodion, a colleague of Felix at Atletico. However, it was revealed on Sunday night that the intended transfer did not materialize.
Conor Gallagher’s potential move to Atletico is now uncertain, as the Spanish club appears to want additional finances in order to complete the transfer of the English player.
According to The Telegraph, Felix is prepared to accept a substantial reduction in salary in order to facilitate his return to Stamford Bridge and maybe expedite the bargaining process.
According to the source, Chelsea may get Felix for an initial payment of less than £40m, even though the player is now under contract until June 2029.
Felix’s prospects at Civitas Metropolitano are bleak, and Atletico is inclined to permanently move him rather than arrange another loan agreement.
Chelsea is currently in search of a striker to sign. Felix would be a valuable addition to Enzo Maresca’s team as he has the ability to play multiple positions in the attack, including second striker, winger, and number ten.
Although he is capable of playing as a center-forward, Chelsea is still interested in acquiring a genuine striker, even if they bring in the Portuguese attacker.
The Blues have decided not to continue their pursuit of Omorodion and are currently exploring other options for a forward player.
Chelsea’s interest in Victor Osimhen persists, but they will only pursue signing the Napoli player if he becomes eligible for a loan agreement.
Omorodion is currently being associated with potential transfers to Bournemouth, Aston Villa, and reigning Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.
