According to sources, an unexpected contender has arisen in the race to recruit Jack Grealish this summer, and the Manchester City midfielder is ‘excited’ about their growing interest.
Grealish was left off City’s 27-man roster for the forthcoming Club World Cup earlier this month, fueling speculation over his immediate future.
The 29-year-old, who has two years left on his estimated £300,000-per-week contract, was previously linked with a transfer elsewhere after making only seven Premier League appearances last season.
However, after missing out on this summer’s tournament in America, it looks that the England international is looking for a fresh challenge, with a number of teams allegedly interested in his services.
Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle, and old side Aston Villa have all been connected, with Everton keeping an eye on his status ahead of the 2025/26 season, according to the Daily Mail.
There have been no formal conversations between City and Everton, and it looks that any transfer would be in the form of a loan, given the Premier League’s profit and sustainability requirements.
However, rumors of a move to the Toffees continue to circulate. According to Football Insider, Grealish ‘favours’ a move to Everton over Newcastle and the international clubs following him.
After saying Grealish has realized he will have to join a new club next season as the World Cup approaches, the publication states the player has “let it be known to friends that he is open to a move to another Premier League club, and is excited by Everton’s interest.”
It continues: “The glamour of the club’s new stadium and the possibility of a regular starting role is attractive to the former Aston Villa star, who does not just want to be a squad player at a Champions League club.”

After leaving Grealish out of his matchday squad for the season’s last game against Fulham, Pep Guardiola discussed the idea of Grealish moving for pastures new.
“Of course, Jack needs to play. “He’s an incredible player who has to play football every three days,” he explained. “It didn’t happen this season or previous season. He needs to do it, either with us or somewhere else.
“This is a question for Jack, his agent, and the club. If he stays, everything will be OK, and he will struggle as hard as he has since the beginning to make a difference, but not today.
“It’s not personal with Jack. I’m the one who worked to bring him here and to keep him here this season. I stated I wanted Jack Grealish. What happens in the future is the responsibility of Txiki (Begiristain), Hugo (Viana), and the agents.”
One thing is for certain. Grealish would be a big draw at the future Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium. What are your thoughts on the midfielder’s prospective move to Everton? Please let us know in the comments.
