Jack Grealish makes training ground admission after impressing on full Everton debut

Grealish made the assertion after Everton’s victory over Brighton.

Jack Grealish has scarcely played with teammate Iliman Ndiaye since joining Everton, and he explained why in a superb post-match interview on Sunday.

Everton defeated Brighton 2-0 in their inaugural game at the new Hill Dickinson Stadium, with goals from Iliman Ndiaye and James Garner sealing the historic triumph.

One of the main talking points from Sunday’s game was the performance of summer signing Grealish, who appeared to be back to his best after assisting on both goals.

The midfielder had a memorable debut, and after the game, he spoke with Sky Sports about his decision to join Everton.

When asked how special the performance was, he replied, “It was massive.” I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Manchester City, but this summer I decided it was time for a change.”

He went further: “As soon as I spoke to the manager on FaceTime, I knew it was the place that I wanted to come to.”

Toward the end of the interview, after Ndiaye described his new teammate as a “amazing” player, Grealish spoke up about a talk he had with the Senegal international during training.

“But the manager hasn’t played us together once in training,” Grealish said, smiling. “I asked Iliman yesterday, ‘Any chance of the manager playing us together?'” So it’s our first time. Hopefully, there will be many more goals and assists.”

Here’s how fans on social media responded to the comments.

Another added: “Can’t lie makes a lot of sense for Moyes to ban them from being on the same team in training.”

Another said the following: “Grealish saying the manager doesn’t play them together in training like that would be fair on the rest of the players.”

A third added: “Greaish says it’s the first time he and Ndiaye have played together on the same side, even in training. Have a conversation with yourself, Dave.”

Grealish has joined Everton on a season-long loan from Manchester City, and according to The Athletic, the Toffees have the option to buy the 29-year-old for £50 million at the end of his loan.

In his first Everton interview, Grealish explained what David Moyes expects from him in the coming months.

“Even when I spoke to the manager, he says he wants me to be creative in the final third,” he told me.

“I want to have that confidence in myself that I had previously. Sometimes you’ll lose the ball and miss opportunities, but you also want to be able to play that deadly pass and have an outcome.

“That’s the main aim, and if I do all of that I really do feel like I can help this club.”

Grealish continued: “I can’t wait. To be back in the Premier League, I don’t think I’ve played as much as I would have liked in the previous two seasons. So perhaps I can come here and play, find my rhythm, and demonstrate what I’m all about. Hopefully, the fans already know what I’m capable of.”
