Ipswich Town latest – updates on the club’s transfer plans, Jack Clarke situation, and confirmation of their place in the EFL play-offs.

Ipswich Town are in contention for automatic promotion to the Premier League this season.

The Tractor Boys were relegated from the top flight in 2025 after finishing 19th under Kieran McKenna, but they are aiming for a fast comeback.

The Suffolk club has been out of the Premier League for 22 years, but they now have the opportunity to shorten that wait to just 12 months.

The distance to second-place Middlesbrough is only two points, and McKenna’s team has a game in hand over their rivals for a top-two spot.

Meanwhile, league leaders Coventry City lead by 11 points, putting them comfortably ahead in the title fight.

Ipswich Town has a two-week gap between fixtures due to the March international break. Here’s the latest news on the club.

Nigel Farage’s PR disaster

Nigel Farage’s visit to Portman Road on Tuesday sparked much criticism in Ipswich.

However, according to the Independent, the club did not invite him to the stadium, so he scheduled a private tour without using his or the Reform party’s names.

The 61-year-old posed for shots wearing a Farage-branded shirt and shared a parody snapshot of himself signing for the Championship side.

The Suffolk team has yet to issue a comment in response to the event, which has sparked widespread outrage during this international break.

Playoff dates are confirmed.

The EFL has officially confirmed the dates for the upcoming Championship play-offs, which may affect Ipswich.

The Tractor Boys are now third in the table, which will result in a first-leg semi-final versus the sixth-place finisher on May 8 at 8 p.m.

Meanwhile, the second leg at Portman Road could take place on May 11th, with another 8pm kickoff.

The final will be held at Wembley Stadium on May 23, though the kick-off time has yet to be confirmed.

Dan Neil praised Jack Clarke.

Dan Neil hailed Jack Clarke’s performance in the team’s 1-1 draw with Millwall last weekend, as the winger put McKenna’s side ahead before halftime.

While Josh Coburn equalized in the second half, the Ipswich midfielder believes the 25-year-old is the greatest winger in the division when at his peak.Neil, speaking to the BBC, described Jack Clarke’s performance as “probably the best I have seen since I got back playing with him.”He was direct, and the right-back was practically afraid when he received it.

“When he’s on it, he’s by far the best winger in this league, bar none, and you saw that.”We need to keep feeding him the ball in hazardous places until the conclusion of the season, and he can make the difference for us.”

Ipswich go on a scouting mission

According to Danish outlet Campo, Ipswich attended the Europa League second leg match between Nottingham Forest and Midtjylland last week.

Scouts from prominent clubs including Manchester United and Liverpool were also present to witness the Danish club’s elimination from the competition on penalties.

Dario Osorio is thought to be a player who might have piqued the curiosity of organizations keeping a close eye on him.

However, it is unclear which player the Tractor Boys were looking at, as a number of European clubs were also there, with Midtjylland losing 1-0 in the first leg against the Premier League side.
