He has let me down tonight, and I don’t think he will start a match for me again before this season concludes. That’s my decision. The one Arsenal player who disappointed the entire team today has finally been decided by Arteta. Not Martinelli, not Saka
When Arsenal headed to Stamford Bridge to play Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon, they were in dire need of a victory.
Mikel Arteta’s team had a bad run of results going into this match, thus a reaction was needed.
If Kai Havertz’s goal against his old team hadn’t been disallowed for offside, Arsenal would have been pleased with the evenly matched first half.
Additionally, Arsenal will believe that Levi Colwill should have been dismissed sooner.
After the break, things carried on in the same direction until Gabriel Martinelli made the breakthrough at the hour mark. Pedro Neto, however, switched flanks and levelled the score ten minutes later.
Other from maybe ending the Gunners’ title aspirations, a 1-1 draw doesn’t do anything for them.
David Raya’s ratings for Arsenal vs. Chelsea are 7
He didn’t have any major problems during the game, had good box control, and occasionally shown genuine poise with the ball at his feet.
Ben White, age six
Despite being on a yellow card for the majority of the game, Largely handled Neto admirably during their head-to-head fight.
William Saliba, age six
At the back, William Saliba gave a calm performance without ever seeming particularly distressed.
Six Gabriel Magalhaes
Gabriel was at ease at the back, much like Saliba, and Arsenal’s centre-back combination kept the Blues at bay.
Jurrien Timber: 7
Jurrien Timber, who filled in at left-back, had an outstanding performance. He aggressively advanced at every chance and defended resolutely. On a personal level, Timber fulfilled his pledge to Arsenal supporters that the team would get better against Chelsea.
4 Thomas Partey
Thomas Partey gave a lacklustre performance in the centre of the park. He has overcome the odds to become a vital member of this Arsenal club once more after having his career ruined by injuries in previous seasons, but he slowed his team down in possession much too frequently this afternoon.
Martin Odegaard: 7
Martin Odegaard was given a start today after making a late comeback from injury against Inter Milan the last time out.
Odegaard’s absence has been felt by Arsenal supporters, and the Norwegian playmaker demonstrated why at Stamford Bridge by setting up Martinelli’s goal and guiding the media nonstop.
Declan Rice: 6
fought hard against Chelsea but couldn’t really change much in the latter third.
Saka Bukayo – 4
In the first half, Bukayo Saka found it difficult to make an impact on the game. As the game progressed, the winger gained some clout but lacked the magic that Arsenal supporters have grown accustomed to seeing from him. He hobbled off before the end, which will also raise concerns.
8 Gabriel Martinelli
Martinelli, who is now battling for his future at Arsenal, gave his greatest performance in a while this afternoon. He earned his goal since, during his time on the pitch, he was the Gunners’ most threatening threat.
Kai Havertz, age 7
On his way back to Stamford Bridge, he thought he had put the Gunners ahead, but VAR disallowed his attempt for a slight offside. Sadly, the ball didn’t fall kindly for him several times despite his excellent line-leading.
