‘Idiot ‘ – Ex-Spurs Chairman Alan Sugar Threatens to Sue Jamie Redknapp & Sky

Lord Alan Sugar, the former owner of Tottenham Hotspur, has reacted angrily to commentator Jamie Redknapp’s comments.

Redknapp, who has become well-known for his punditry work in recent years, was one of two commentators, along with Gianfranco Zola, giving Sky Sports coverage for West Ham’s Premier League home match against Tottenham Hotspur, their first since the September international break.

It was Tottenham’s first game without Daniel Levy as chairman in almost two decades. Levy left Tottenham earlier this month, ushering in a new era for the Lilywhites following their Europa League success last season, 17 years after their last trophy.

Levy was frequently chastised for his apparent lack of expenditure, and how this affected managers like as Mauricio Pochettino, Jose Mourinho, and Antonio Conte. His work, however, has put Tottenham in a strong financial position, and he oversaw the club’s move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which is recognized as one of the best modern football stadiums.

Redknapp praised Levy for his work at Spurs, notably the investment in the club’s training facilities, but also stated that the 63-year-old inherited a club that was “a total mess” following the tenure of previous owner Lord Alan Sugar.

Soon after Redknapp’s comments, Sugar took to X, then known as Twitter, to express his thoughts on the situation.

‘Talks a lot of rubbish.’

Sugar, writing on X, labeled Redknapp as a “double barrel idiot” who “talks a load of rubbish,” referring to Redknapp’s remark about Sugar’s ownership of Tottenham.

Sugar, well-known for his commercial ventures, took over Tottenham in 1991, but fans grew to loathe the tycoon for his views on the North London club, which he appeared to treat as a company rather than a football team at times. Sugar has been recognized as an issue by various players, and his tenure was tarnished by numerous issues.

After selling his majority ownership position to ENIC in 2001, Sugar remained a part-owner of the club until 2007 and has not been connected with any other football clubs since leaving Spurs. Sugar continued in his tweet, adding that his attorneys would be contacting Redknapp and Sky in response to the former defender’s comments.
