“I have been critical of him over the years but he has proved me wrong yesterday”: Roy Keane apologise to Man United player after proving him wrong against Man City yesterday

After Bruno Fernandes led his Manchester United team to victory on Saturday, Roy Keane acknowledged that he had misjudged the player.

Manchester United had a chance to make amends against their rivals, Manchester City, at Wembley on Saturday afternoon after losing the FA Cup final the previous year.

Erik ten Hag’s team got off to a fast start, regularly taking advantage of City’s offside trap by hitting long balls over the top.

The breakthrough came in the thirty-first minute when Alejandro Garnacho easily tap-inted after Josko Gvardiol’s header over Stefan Ortega.

After Jeremy Doku gave Manchester City a late consolation goal, Kobbie Mainoo doubled the lead nine minutes later with a quick counterattack.

After the game, Roy Keane spoke on ITV to praise Manchester United and to specifically highlight the leadership of Bruno Fernandes, acknowledging that he had previously misjudged the player.

“Over the years, I have been critical of Bruno, but I am happy to be proven wrong because his leadership today was exceptional.” stated Keane.

“His skill as a player is something we always talk about.”

When the Portuguese midfielder was selected as Manchester United’s captain in July of last year, it became a hot topic of discussion and many supporters criticized the manager for the choice.
