On the concluding day of the 2011-12 season, Manchester City defeated the Red Devils in order to secure the Premier League title.

Ferguson made a statement of intent by acquiring Robin van Persie from Arsenal, United’s adversaries, in a £24m deal during the 2012 summer transfer window.

In 38 Premier League appearances, Robin van Persie scored an impressive 26 times, resulting in a sensational impact during the 2012-13 campaign.

In the 2012-13 season, Manchester City would be defeated by United by 11 points, and Robin van Persie would be awarded the Premier League Golden Boot.

In an interview with Ally McCoist on Ally’s Social Club, Ferguson stated, “I always said when I got to January – what I did every January 1st, I wrote down every year where our opponents’ games could be won or lost and I put us down to win by 10 points.” This statement was reported by The Daily Mirror.

“I believed that we would achieve this, as the team was performing exceptionally well.” However, I believe it was eleven points.

“They performed exceptionally well, as did the team, and Van Persie was exceptional in terms of his goals, his power, and his confidence.”
