I don’t usually give players praise, but I have to say that he performed admirably today, and it hurts to think that I won’t be around to coach him any longer. The only Man United player who truly impressed Van Nistelrooy today is revealed.
Ruud van Nistelrooy has described his tenure as Manchester United’s manager as “a short but amazing period.” The Dutchman has gone undefeated in his four games in charge.
The club’s former striker managed the 20-time English champions for four games after being named interim manager of the Red Devils at the end of last month when Erik ten Hag left.
Under Van Nistelrooy’s leadership, Man United defeated PAOK in the Europa League, drew 1-1 with Chelsea in the league, and defeated Leicester City twice in the Premier League and EFL Cup.
After the Red Devils defeated Leicester 3-0 in the Premier League on Sunday, Ruben Amorim will take over on Monday. The Portuguese will be joining from Sporting Lisbon.
The future of Van Nistelrooy remains uncertain as the Dutchman is unsure if he will have a role at Old Trafford under Amorim, who is bringing his own team with him.
At Man United, Van Nistelrooy is now making way for Amorim.
The Red Devils won just their fourth league game of the season thanks to goals from Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho, as well as an own goal from Victor Kristiansen.
“You could see that players were fighting through the game, and it was professional.” Van Nistelrooy told BBC Sport, “We had some good moments and scored two fantastic goals, but we didn’t really control the game.”
“Those three points were crucial. Bruno is back to contributing after scoring some crucial goals and providing an assist in the four games. The Bruno who is most assisting the team is that one.
Alejandro Garnacho has played a lot of minutes, so I wanted him to contribute off the bench. I’m happy that worked out. I spoke with him before the game. We decided to make the most of these four games and get the most out of them, and I believe we performed fairly well.
