‘I am sad’ – Bruno Guimaraes pens emotional farewell message after major Newcastle United exit

After 2.5 years, Newcastle United confirmed that co-owners Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi have left the team.
For their work at Newcastle United, Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi have received gratitude from Bruno Guimaraes.

In the boardroom, the married couple declared their departure from the club after 2.5 years. In 2017, Staveley was the one who initially made the Magpies known in the Middle East.

She returned with the Public Investment Fund, which is valued at an incredible £726 billion, after her first offer failed. After a protracted takeover procedure, PIF gained an 80% holding in Newcastle, with Staveley and the Reuben brothers—the second-richest family in the UK—sharing the remaining 10%.

Earlier this year, Staveley and Ghodoussi’s private equity firm, PCP Capital Partners, decreased their ownership to 6%. They have sold their remaining shares to PIF and the Reubens, according to a club statement released on Friday.

An abundance of accolades to the two individuals who assisted in freeing the club from Mike Ashley greeted the news. In the initial days following the takeover, before CEOs or sporting directors were named, Staveley and Ghodoussi were indispensable.

In the middle of a relegation struggle, one of those crucial choices was to pay £35 million to recruit Guimaraes, a relatively unknown Brazilian. The midfield player expressed his gratitude for the chance to join Newcastle on social media.

“The news makes me very sad,” Guimaraes wrote. I still don’t believe in it, but thank you both for what you have done for the club.

“Thank you again for helping me get into the club, and I wish you the best of luck in the future! I will always be appreciative of @mehrdadghodoussi and @amandastaveleyѱ.
