The winger has not played for City since the victory over Swansea City in late January.

David Akintola’s chances of joining Hull City’s team for the final seven games of the Championship season have been crushed after Yu Hirakawa decided against having surgery on his ankle injury.
As disclosed last month, City addressed the EFL about de-registering Hirakawa after he suffered an ankle injury in the win over Derby County at the MKM Stadium on February 24.
The EFL refused because the Japan international had not been ruled out for four months and may return before the end of the season if the Tigers make the play-offs, which would be a great boost for Sergej Jakirovic.
Eliot Matazo may also play before the season ends, closing another door for the Nigerian international who joined City in the summer and has since played 21 times, scoring once against Sheffield United and assisting on two goals against Bristol City and Preston North End. He also scored the winning penalty in the FA Cup shootout against Blackburn Rovers.
City had left two seats open in their 25-man squad, which was submitted after the winter transfer market closed, with Matazo and Mo Belloumi taking the remaining berths.
On the same grounds that the EFL denied City’s appeal for Hirakawa, Matazo will remain registered.
Darko Gyabi is another player who was anticipated to miss the majority of the season’s final weeks, but he is expected to make good progress over the international break and may yet participate.
If City suffers any more serious injury setbacks that prevent anyone from playing until the end of the current season, Akintola may be able to return to the team. As things stand, the 30-year-old will continue to practice with the first-team squad in Cottingham.
