Hull City and Birmingham City have both received FA sanctions for accepting charges following a dispute at St Andrew’s.

Hull City have been punished for their role in the touchline brawl that erupted during their October 3-2 victory against Birmingham City.
The Tigers won the game thanks to an own goal by Birmingham’s Jack Robinson, a score from Regan Slater, and a 90th-minute winner from Joe Gelhardt.
However, the game erupted right before halftime when Kyle Joseph knocked down Patrick Roberts and was then fouled by Jay Stansfield.
Both sets of players got into a fight on the field, and then members of the opposing dugouts clashed off the field.

As a result, both teams were prosecuted, and the Football Association confirmed the findings today in a statement, stating that Birmingham will pay a £115,000 fine and Hull will pay a minimum of £25,000.
The announcement read: “Birmingham City FC and Hull City FC have been sanctioned for the mass confrontation at their EFL Championship match on Saturday, October 18.”
“It was alleged that both clubs failed to ensure that their players and/or technical area occupants did not act inappropriately around the 42nd minute.”
“Both clubs admitted the charge, and an independent Regulatory Commission imposed fines of £115,000 and £25,000 on Birmingham City FC and Hull City FC respectively.”
Birmingham’s poor historical record, with five violations of FA Rule E20 mentioned in the judgment, saw them issued a far larger sanction.
The decision featured a line from referee Ruebyn Ricardo’s report that read: “In the 45th minute, there was a challenge by BC9 [correction: BC28], which resulted in MASS CONFRONTATION between both technical areas, Birmingham City stewards, and both sets of players.
“There have been reports of stewards being pushed by Hull City workers and vice versa. Following the incident, BC9 [correction: BC28] and HC21 were cautioned, as well as two staff members from each side.”
The decision went on to say that HCFC had no previous breaches of FA Rule E20 at the First Team level in the current season or the previous five [five] seasons.
“However, HCFC has two [two] previous confirmed breaches of FA Rule E20 at the junior level during the last 12 months.
“These infractions were: i. Against Coventry City in the Premier League Cup (U23) on February 3, 2025, getting a £1,250 fine. ii. Against Swansea City in the U18 Professional Development League – North (U18) on April 15, 2025, getting a £1,250 punishment.”
Both teams have the opportunity to appeal, but for the time being, this appears to have put an unpleasant exchange to rest, which had extended into the post-match news conferences.
After the game, Hull manager Sergej Jakirović stated, “I was in my technical space all the time, they came to us.”If you leave your place, you’ll receive a yellow card.I received a yellow card because I showed this (imaginary yellow card) for a very serious foul on Kyle Joseph. This is the age of the red card, and it is on purpose.
“I then asked Chris, ‘Why did you come to my technical space?'” and he said, ‘F word you’. Some securities even suggested that I go to Croatia.
“I’m quite pleased with this. I was born rough, and I am not afraid of anyone. I am performing my work in this country and I appreciate it; I would never say something like this.
“For me, it’s rude, and I didn’t shake hands, which is a disaster for me, but that’s okay; I’m a big kid. “I can care for myself.”
Speaking after the game, Blues manager Davies stated: “There was a throng of people as there usually is in such sorts of occurrences, and I didn’t believe there was anything strange, but he chose not to shake my hand.
“It has never happened to me as a manager, and I do not believe I have ever seen it as a coach. It says a lot, but that’s what it is.
Birmingham City released a statement rejecting Hull City head coach Sergej Jakirovic’s complaint against a member of their security crew at St. Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park.
“After conducting an internal investigation, the club strongly refutes Mr Jakirovic’s claims.” Furthermore, we are disappointed that the claim was made at a public news conference. We will make no more comments at this time.
