In the event that Aston Villa exercises the buy option clause in Marcus Rashford’s contract, the homegrown players Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho would be prevented from leaving Manchester United.
During the month of January, there was widespread speculation that United might sell Mainoo and Garnacho in an effort to comply with regulations regarding profit and sustainability.
It was reported that United was “desperately” trying to generate income in order to comply with the rules. Since homegrown players are worth one hundred percent of the profit, Mainoo and Garnacho would bring in approximately four times as much as other players.
Eventually, the two remained in their current positions, and Marcus Rashford signed a loan deal with Aston Villa that would last until the conclusion of the 2024–2025 season.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the deal that will bring Rashford to Villa Park includes a buy option worth forty million pounds and a potential three-and-a-half-year contract that will follow. Romano also claims that the Villains are covering seventy percent of Rashford’s weekly wage of three hundred and twenty-five thousand pounds.
It has been reported by the Manchester Evening News that Rashford would protect homegrown players Garnacho and Mainoo in the event that the buy option is activated.
The report goes on to suggest that the club will need to be “more decisive” when it comes to discarding other academy products that have re-sale value before naming the “unfathomably underused” Harry Amass as an example. However, the report does not specify which products will be discarded.
Although Amass was selected to be a member of United’s first-team squad for their pre-season tour of the United States last summer, he has not yet made a first-team appearance for the club. This is despite the fact that Luke Shaw has identified Amass as the young player worth keeping an eye on.
According to The Sun, Rashford is eager to join Aston Villa on a permanent basis. The Sun also claims that Rashford wants to develop under the direction of Unai Emery, who is the manager of Aston Villa.
In point of fact, Rashford is said to have confided in his friends that he is experiencing a revitalisation under Emery and that he is confident that Emery is the ideal individual to assist him in reviving his international career in preparation for the 2026 World Cup.
It has been reported that England manager Thomas Tuchel is open to the possibility of Rashford being included in the Three Lions squad. What are your thoughts on the current situation? Leave a comment below and let us know.
