The culture of English football cannot exist without pubs. Whether at home or on the road, supporters typically gather for a drink in the hours before their team’s game. Supporters have been engaging in this ritualistic behaviour for decades, back when there were considerably fewer pubs and taverns than there are now.
Every one of the 20 Premier League teams currently in play has a bar at least half a mile from their stadium. Taking everything into account, which teams, according to OLBG, have the most pubs within a mile of their home field?
20-16 Brentford, Fulham, Southampton, Brighton, and Manchester City

Manchester City is at the bottom of the list since there are just two pubs close to their stadium. However, all of the other teams in the bottom four are headquartered in London or somewhere else in the south. Southampton, another seaside town, has four pubs close to St. Mary’s, compared to Brighton & Hove Albion’s just one. Above them are Brentford and Fulham, who each have six bars near Craven Cottage and the Gtech Community Stadium.

Manchester United, Leicester City, Crystal Palace, Bournemouth, Aston Villa

There are the same number of pubs within a mile of the stadium for four of the teams ranked between 15th and 11th. There are seven pubs near the stadiums of Manchester United, Leicester City, Crystal Palace, and Bournemouth. Though they only have one more than the four teams mentioned above, Aston Villa is the only team in this group with more.
However, Villa does have a record on this list. The Villa Tavern, a pub, is only 0.1 miles from Villa Park, the home field of the Villans. With pubs located 0.2 miles from their grounds, Chelsea, Newcastle United, Ipswich Town, and Liverpool all have shorter distances than any other club in England.

10-6 West Ham United, Nottingham Forest, Tottenham Hotspur, Everton, Liverpool

West Ham’s London Stadium ranks 10th on the list of stadiums with bars close by. It also happens to be the first stadium with more than 10 pubs within a mile, with 12. Before Tottenham Hotspur makes a huge jump, there are two more within a mile of Nottingham Forest’s City Ground. Their new stadium, which remained in the same location as White Hart Lane, has twenty drinking establishments scattered throughout it.
Everton and Liverpool, two Merseyside teams, are ranked seventh and sixth, respectively, indicating a move back up towards the north of the country beyond Spurs. Although both stadiums are remarkably close to a bar, the Toffees have two less stadiums near Goodison Park than Liverpool do in Anfield. Anfield is 0.2 miles from The Arkles, and Goodison is 0.3 miles from The Winslow.

Chelsea, Ipswich Town, Arsenal, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Newcastle United
Arsenal is in third place. The North London stadium offers the largest diversity in the city, with 33 bars close to the Emirates. Surprisingly, Wolverhampton Wanderers are in second place. Fans may choose from 50 pubs within a mile of Molineux, even if they might have to walk almost half a mile to get there.
But with pubs all over the stadium, Newcastle United is the obvious underdog. Within a mile of St. James’ Park, there are an astounding 174 pubs. Newcastle benefits greatly from the fact that well-known local bars do not turn away tourists.
