While winning trophies isn’t the ultimate goal of playing in the Premier League, it helps improve your club’s status. Naturally, winning is the most crucial factor, and losing is a player’s worst fear.
But a series of significant wins can result in a trophy. Throughout the years, we have witnessed underdog teams triumph in club competitions—think of it as “the magic of the FA Cup”! In some places, such as Liverpool, winning is ingrained in their culture.
There are teams that have won a major title for decades, in contrast to the Reds, and that made us stop and consider. Since their founding, how many major trophies have each of the clubs now competing in England’s top division won?
Never won a trophy
Bournemouth, Brentford, Brighton & Hove Albion and Fulham
No, you are not seeing things with your eyes. Bournemouth, Brighton & Hove Albion, Brentford, and Fulham, both headquartered in London, are among the four Premier League teams that have never taken home a major prize.
Over the years, all four have maintained their position in England’s top division, but they have nothing to show for their efforts when it comes to winning trophies, which is the ultimate reward for achievement.
Over the years, the team from Craven Cottage has come quite close to winning the championship. They were defeated 2-0 by West Ham United in the 1975 FA Cup final and lost by a slim margin of 2-1 to Atletico Madrid in the 2009–10 Europa League final.
1–5 trophies West Ham United, Southampton, Crystal Palace, Leicester City, and Ipswich Town
It was 1976 when Southampton last won a big trophy—their only one, incidentally. Bobby Stokes’ goal was the difference between them and Manchester United in the FA Cup. That is the depth of the trophy cabinet on the south shore side.
In 2025, Crystal Palace finally won a major prize after defeating Manchester City in the FA Cup final. The Eagles won a thrilling match at Wembley thanks to a goal from Eberechi Eze that proved to be the difference between the two teams.
Throughout their history, Ipswich Town has alternated between the top flight and the second division, but many teams will be jealous of their continental success. In the 1980–81 UEFA Cup final, the Tractor Boys defeated the Netherlands’ AZ Alkmaar 5–4 overall.
The only English football team to win the Europa Conference League is West Ham United. However, they defeated the defending champions, Arsenal, in the 1979–80 FA Cup final, which was their final major title before to their win in 2022–2023. The capital club, a classic team with a long history, has won five games.
Leicester City, who won the Premier League title in 2015–16, has also captured the imagination of football enthusiasts. In addition, they have only won three League Cups and one FA Cup, making their major prize success somewhat dismal.

Wolverhampton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest
Are Nottingham Forest demonstrating their competitiveness to the world in 2024–2025? After struggling with relegation the previous season, they’ve had an incredible season. But let’s not forget the numerous awards they’ve won throughout the years.
This includes winning consecutive European Cups (now known as the Champions League) in 1978–1979 and 1979–1980, which marked the pinnacle of their illustrious existence. Over the years, Wolverhampton Wanderers have also taken home nine significant trophies.
Despite the fact that the Midlands-based team is frequently involved in relegation struggles these days, they have won the FA Cup, the oldest football competition, four times and the First Division three times.

11–20 trophies Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, and Everton
Tottenham Hotspur’s allergy to trophies is a common joke, but this list rapidly disproves that assertion. Although they have won the FA Cup eight times, they have not had much luck lately (consider their Champions League final loss to Liverpool). They also had two First Division victories prior to 1992.
Everton has a long and illustrious history. They still have a full trophy cabinet to be proud of, despite not being one of the nation’s preferred giants. The Toffees won the top level nine times before it was called the Premier League, and they currently have fifteen victories.
The St. James’ Park supporters have been vocal throughout thick and thin, and Newcastle United is unquestionably one of the best-supported teams in England across all divisions. They now have 11 goals after defeating Liverpool in the League Cup.

21–30 trophies from Manchester City, Chelsea, and Aston Villa
All of them are reputable teams in English football and elsewhere, and Aston Villa has had great success in the past. They won seven First Division titles between 1893–94 and 1980–81, while never having access to the Premier League.
In addition, they have won five League Cups and the same amount of FA Cups. Chelsea has won the FA Cup eight times and has won the Champions League twice, in 2011–12 and 2020–21.
In addition, the west Londoners have two Europa League trophies in their bulging cabinet and have won the Premier League five times during their heyday. Unfortunately, that seems like a very long time ago when Manchester City wasn’t in control.
The Citizens, who created history by winning four consecutive Premier League titles, have been present or close since their Saudi-backed takeover. In 2022–2023, the team finally won Europe’s top table, although they always had the first seven FA Cups and eight League Cups to fall back on.

More than thirty trophies from Manchester United, Liverpool, and Arsenal
Let’s move on to the best in English football: the consistent champions. Although Arsenal supporters will make a special effort to remind you that they are the first team in Premier League history to go undefeated for a whole season, their success doesn’t end there.
Only three of the Gunners’ 13 league trophies have come since 1992, making them one of the biggest teams to never win the Champions League. In addition, they have won the League Cup twice and hold the record for FA Cup victories (14) as well.
Remember how dominant Manchester United was in the past, and think of Sir Alex Ferguson. The Red Devils, who won the first Premier League, are no longer the dominant team of the past, and their lack of trophies speaks for themselves.
With 47 major trophies under their belt, Liverpool is without a doubt the most decorated club in England. The Reds have won six European Cups and been declared English champions 20 times overall. Their most successful phase was in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
