According to reports, Arsenal is getting closer to signing Real Sociedad star Mikel Merino, a midfielder from Spain, in an effort to bolster their roster ahead of the upcoming campaign.
Real Sociedad’s Mikel Merino has been a star performer in La Liga. He recently dazzled at Euro 2024, drawing interest from other elite European clubs.
Arsenal has stepped up their efforts to sign the 28-year-old, eager to add to their midfield options—especially with Liverpool showing a serious interest in Merino’s teammate Martin Zubimendi.
Real Sociedad and Arsenal are in early negotiations for Merino.
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano claims that Arsenal and Merino have already reached a personal agreement. Merino is said to have selected the North London club over possible transfers to Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.
Both teams are now negotiating the terms of payment and the structure of the deal, but the transfer fee that is reportedly being discussed is in excess of €25 million.
