Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano reports that Manchester United and midfielder Manuel Ugarte of Paris Saint-Germain have reached a personal terms deal.
Ugarte has become a top contender for United in recent weeks as they look to strengthen Erik ten Hag’s midfield unit in time for the 2024–2025 campaign.
Casemiro and Christian Eriksen’s departure from Old Trafford appears certain, and a replacement will undoubtedly be required. Finding little Kobbie Mainoo the ideal pivot partner is another minor issue. This is the role of Ugarte.
According to a prior story published by The Peoples Person, United had put in an initial approach for Ugarte, but PSG quickly rejected it since it didn’t match their assessment of the South American.
According to reports, United and the reigning Ligue 1 powerhouses are still in negotiations to try and work out a compromise on the transfer fee.
There have even been hints that PSG could accept a loan offer for Erik ten Hag’s team’s 23-year-old aggressive midfield player.
It’s well known that Ugarte himself would prefer to play for United since, following his fall from favour under Luis Enrique, he doesn’t think he has a future in Paris.
Important updates on the situation have been provided by Italian journalist Romano, who also said that he has agreed to the terms that the Red Devils have offered.

“Terms of contract discussed; player eager to join United even in the absence of Champions League football.”

Ugarte played in 37 games for PSG last season in all competitions. Only two assists were recorded by him during that time.
The Uruguayan has also been connected to Bundesliga team Bayern Munich and La Liga powerhouse Barcelona in addition to United.
