‘Here we go’ – Fabrizio Romano confirms first Manchester United summer deal

Man Utd will soon finish their first summer transfer window acquisition.
Donny van de Beek is expected to sign a contract with Girona, meaning Manchester United will close their first signing of the summer transfer season.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano announced the agreement on social media on Wednesday, emphasising how certain the sale was with his well-known “here we go” comment.

For the Dutchman, United is expected to pay a fixed initial cost of €500k, with attainable add-ons that would likely push the total fee to €4 million or €5 million. Though they are less likely to be activated, there are a number of extras that might potentially make the agreement worth €15 million.

It is believed that United will also include a sell-on clause in the agreement. This means that even though they might not profit much out of the purchase right now, they could be able to recoup part of their investment if he finds his playing form.

Four years after they paid €39 million plus an additional €5 million in add-ons to buy Van van Beek from Ajax, their permanent sale would represent an initial loss of €38.5 million.

While on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt, the 27-year-old started just four games, and the Bundesliga team decided against signing him permanently for a reported £9.5 million. The Dutch midfielder has only made 62 appearances in all competitions during his four seasons at Old Trafford. His most recent 90-minute game was in March 2022 while he was on loan at Everton.
