Henrik Pedersen has provided an update on Sheffield Wednesday’s hopes to conduct transfer business during the forthcoming January window.
Due to the Owls’ financial difficulties, only two additions were made last summer: Ethan Horvath and Harry Amass, both of whom arrived on loan.
Nathan Redmond and Liam Cooper have now arrived as free agents to bolster the Yorkshire squad, following approval from the EFL, with the club in administration since late October.
It remains to be seen who will be in charge of Hillsborough when the winter market begins, with a preferred bidder expected to be chosen soon to replace Dejphon Chansiri as owner.
Sheffield Wednesday have won only one of their first 19 games this season, therefore Pedersen will be eager to improve the first-team squad if the league grants more concessions, even if relegation is almost probable at this point.
Henrik Pedersen provides Sheffield Wednesday transfer update.

Pedersen has stated that Sheffield Wednesday is yet to receive a clear update from the EFL on prospective signings they can make in the short future.
He’s made it plain that the Owls don’t know what allowances they’ll be given before January, but that work is still being done that could result in transactions if approval is granted.
“As of right now, we don’t have a line from the EFL if we can do anything at all,” Pedersen told The Star.
“We’re not sure if we can have loan players, free agents, or buy players.
“We know nothing.
“But what we do in the background is try to get an idea of which loan players we could be interested in, which players will be available on the free agent market in January, and then we try to create a list for our team and what it might look like.
“But one thing is how it could look, while the other is we don’t know what is possible.”
Pedersen has stated that he, chief scout Kevin Beadell, and the other staff are all looking into various ways to enhance the squad, but there is still too much uncertainty about what they are authorized to do to prepare well.
“Kevin and his scouts, the coaches and me, we try to be as prepared as possible to handle it when there is a signal to do something,” the coach said.
“But there is currently no indication that we can do anything at all.
“We can provide some ideas, but can we pay £5? Can we pay £500/week? Can we pay £5,000 each week? Can we pay £10,000 each week? Can we pay nothing? We know nothing.
“It is roughly how we can do it, but the specifics are still quite difficult.”
Sheffield Wednesday sit at the bottom of the Championship standings, having lost 18 points due to deductions, leaving them with minus 10 points after 19 games.
Pedersen’s side’s next match is against Watford on Tuesday at 7.45pm.

Sheffield Wednesday are in need of reinforcements even in stranded league position
Sheffield Wednesday are at the bottom of the Championship table, and it’s tough to see them moving up this season considering their point deductions.
However, the team still requires reinforcements in January, if possible, because losing practically every game is such a devastating blow to morale behind the scenes.
Supporters will be pleased with the progress being made in terms of bringing in a new owner, but they will find it increasingly difficult to accept these terrible results week after week.
If a few more free agency and loan signings can be completed in the coming weeks, it will relieve some of the burden on the present team to be available for every game, as it is currently a small group of players.
