LEICESTER City have fired manager Marti Cifuentes after winning only two of their last eight Championship games.
The Foxes sacked Spaniard Cifuentes after a 2-1 home defeat to relegation-threatened Oxford United on Saturday.
Cifuentes was chosen in the summer to replace Ruud van Nistelrooy, who had left QPR, and lasted barely six months in the post.
Leicester are now looking for their eighth permanent manager in just over two and a half years. Andy King, the first-team coach, has been placed in interim command.
Leicester’s defeat to Oxford United was their 11th in the Championship this season, leaving them in 14th place, six points from the play-offs.
They will face Southampton twice in four days next month, with a league match at the King Power on February 10 and an FA Cup tie on February 14.
Leicester were defeated 3-0 by Saints at St Mary’s Stadium under Cifuentes, with Taylor Harwood-Bellis scoring twice and Finn Azaz scoring once.
