“Heartbreaking” – As Newcastle United and Chelsea were defeated by Manchester United in the pursuit of a sensational winger, as a midfielder transfer is forthcoming

Bendito Mantato, a 16-year-old winger for Manchester United, has signed a new deal with the team after receiving serious interest from multiple Premier League teams.

Mantato has signed a scholarship deal with Manchester United, which comes with a pre-contract that will start when he turns 17. The Manchester Evening News reported that clubs expressing interest in Mantato included Brighton, Newcastle United, Chelsea, and Liverpool.

Newcastle wanted the young winger, but they would have had to give Manchester United a six-figure transfer price in exchange.

Newcastle United and Manchester United have just come to an understanding over Dan Ashworth’s compensation charge.

During Erik ten Hag’s first week at Old Trafford, Ashworth oversaw the signing of a new contract for head coach Erik ten Hag and guaranteed the future of one of the team’s best youth prospects. The fact that Manchester United included a pre-contract agreement with the scholarship grant shows how confident they are in Mantato’s ability to contribute to the first team.

During the 2023–24 season, the winger netted six goals in seven Under–18 Premier League games for Manchester United, including four in a 5-2 triumph over Blackburn Rovers in March.
He was also capped for England at the Under-16 level and made his Premier League 2 debut for the Under-21s during the season.
Despite failing to sign Mantato, Newcastle has been actively seeking out academy prospects this summer.
