Elliott’s asking price was ‘deterred’ when they reached out to Liverpool.
A Premier League team reportedly cancelled a bid for the Liverpool midfielder only hours before Harvey Elliott scored one of the best goals of this summer’s European Under-21 Championship.
After a fierce 2-1 victory over the Netherlands on Wednesday afternoon, the 22-year-old scored twice as England guaranteed their spot in the Euros final.
Despite ongoing rumours about his future at Liverpool, Elliott, who has scored four goals for the Young Lions this summer, has been one of the tournament’s most impressive players.
Journalist Dean Jones claims that Liverpool’s £40 million asking price for the former Fulham player has “deterred” Wolves, another Premier League team, from making a move.
On X, formerly Twitter, he posted, “When Wolves reached out to discuss a deal, they were put off by Harvey Elliott’s asking price.” “Brighton are showing more willingness around a £40 million valuation.”

According to a report by Florian Plettenberg of Sky last month, several interested parties are pursuing Elliott, who was formerly praised by Klopp as a “sensational talent.”
Plettenberg wrote, “A departure of Harvey Elliott is possible,” on X. “There are a lot of fascinating queries, and discussions are still going on. If a good offer were made, Liverpool wouldn’t stop him. His deal expires in 2027.
In 2024–2025, the attacking midfielder, who joined Liverpool in 2019, made 28 appearances for the Reds across all competitions, but most of them came off the bench.
He actually only made six starts, one of which was in the Premier League.
Elliott sent a heartfelt statement on Instagram following Arne Slot’s team’s Premier League victory celebration last month in front of a joyful Anfield crowd. “Lifelong memories,” he wrote. Reds, thank you.
Elliott seemed to imply that his time at Anfield might be nearing to an end when he told LFCTV during the festivities that “you never know what’s going to happen” in response to rumours about his future.
He remarked, “I think this one, I’ve played more of a part in winning the league,” alluding to the team’s 2019–20 Premier League championship victory. I believe I only made four appearances or something during the season we won it the last time, when I was still a tiny child.
I feel as though I’ve been in and around it a lot now.
“I’ve been in every squad since recovering from my injury, so it feels much better to be a part of it this time around just by travelling, playing away games, and doing everything else but playing. You never know what’s going to happen, so I’m just trying to appreciate every moment of it.”
“You just need to enjoy and celebrate these moments as much as you can,” he continued. “You can’t take them for granted.”
