Haaland is here to stay! City striker Erling close to mammoth new deal that will see him replace Kevin De Bruyne as club’s highest-paid player

According to reports, Erling Haaland is on the verge of signing a new contract with Manchester City, which will make him the highest-earning player at the club, surpassing Kevin De Bruyne.

Haaland is now under contract with City until 2027.
The club intends to offer him a salary increase and contract extension. Guardiola has already approved this decision.
At now, the Belgian midfielder has the title of being City’s highest-earning player, allegedly receiving a weekly salary of £425,000. By comparison, Haaland’s base wage is £375,000 per week, positioning him as one of the highest-paid players in the team. Nevertheless, the forward’s contract included a sequence of performance-based incentives that have the potential to increase

his weekly wages to a figure above £850,000. However, the reported agreement might result in him receiving a net salary of €24 million (£20.5m/$27m) every season.Speculation has connected Haaland with a transfer to Real Madrid previously, but, the recent addition of Kylian Mbappe by Los Blancos has influenced this possibility. Although a striking partnership between Mbappe and Haaland would be extremely exciting, Haaland may perhaps break the Premier League’s record for top scorers if he signs a new contract with City.

Since joining the club, city manager Pep Guardiola has been a loud proponent of Haaland. Guardiola frequently commends the Norwegian’s role in his tactical system and emphasises his significance to the squad. This new agreement might serve as a substantial indication from the club, demonstrating their need on Haaland for sustained success in the future, irrespective of whether Guardiola continues as the head coach once his contract expires in 2025.

Haaland has had remarkable success since becoming a member of City. Within a span of just more than two seasons, the 24-year-old has successfully netted 97 goals in 102 matches, establishing himself as one of the most productive strikers in European football. Throughout the process, he has motivated the team to achieve a remarkable triple in the initial season and subsequently secured another Premier League championship. After fulfilling his obligations with the Norwegian national team, he will come back to the Etihad Stadium to play against Brentford on September 14th.
