Hull City are on the verge of signing their first January move before the window even opens, with experienced goalkeeper Seny Dieng expected to land at the MKM Stadium.
Following their problems in 2024-25, the Tigers are currently flying high in the Championship under Sergej Jakirovic, ranking fourth in the standings after their most recent success, a 1-0 win at the Riverside Stadium over Middlesbrough.
And they’re now prepared to take one of Kim Hellberg’s players away from him before the transfer window opens later this week – despite the fact that all sides appear to agree that this is the best next step forward.
Hull City is closing in on signing Seny Dieng.

According to Alan Nixon’s Patreon report, Hull are close to signing current Boro back-up goalkeeper Seny Dieng on a permanent transfer.
The 31-year-old joined Teesside from QPR for about £2 million in the summer of 2023, after making 120 appearances for the west London club.
After featuring 35 times in the league in his debut season for Boro, Dieng – who has nine caps for Senegal’s senior national team but is not participating in the current African Cup of Nations – had a difficult second season, missing half of it due to an achilles injury.
Dieng has not been in a matchday squad for Boro this season, and according to Nixon, his time at the Riverside Stadium is up, with his contract due to be terminated by mutual consent, despite having a year and a half remaining.
Hull will then be able to complete a deal for the African stopper, as they are subject to a transfer fee limit, which means they cannot sign permanent players unless they are free transfers.
Seny Dieng is anticipated to be Ivor Pandur’s cover at Hull City
Dieng has lots of Championship experience with QPR and Middlesbrough, and given that he just made his league debut with the former at the age of 25, he’s a late starter in the second tier.
Dieng’s career has stagnated, owing to a long-term injury sustained last season.
And, if reports are to be believed, he will have to play second fiddle to Croatian goalkeeper Ivor Pandur, who has been an ever-present for the Tigers this season in the league, despite the club’s lofty Championship position, keeping only three clean sheets.
