Gary Neville can’t resist mocking Liverpool after defeat with hilarious four-word jibe

Gary Neville utilised Instagram to celebrate a “beautiful weekend” following Manchester United’s victory and Liverpool’s defeat.

The 49-year-old Red Devils hero conveyed his warning shortly after Liverpool suffered an unexpected 1-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest. The outcome was announced hours after United triumphed against Southampton 3-0 in the early match.

Salford City, the League Two team partially owned by Neville, secured a late victory over Cheltenham Town, winning 2-1. For Neville, that constituted the ideal trifecta of outcomes.

In a video posted to his Instagram account, Neville remarked: “Well… what a football weekend!” United triumph, Salford prevail, and the significant match results in a Liverpool defeat! Oh, great weekend!

Neville, seemingly observing Salford’s match on his laptop, made over 600 appearances for Manchester United over his distinguished playing career after advancing through the club’s academy.

In 2014, he and other members of ‘The Class of 92’ acquired Salford, which was then a non-league club. Neville has a 10 percent stake in the team, which currently competes in League Two.

Although Liverpool maintains a superior position over arch-rivals Manchester United in the standings after their 3-0 victory against Erik ten Hag’s team before the international break, the Dutch manager and his squad will be optimistic that their significant win against Southampton might catalyse their season.

Marcus Rashford scored United’s second goal against St Mary’s, marking his return to scoring for the first time since March, and Ten Hag is certain the striker will embark on a scoring streak.

In response to the recent criticism aimed at the United academy graduate, Ten Hag stated: “It is crucial that we disregard external opinions, but there has been excessive negativity directed towards him.”

He generated two significant opportunities in the match against Liverpool; in previous matches this season, he has performed admirably. He merited his goal [against Southampton], but he had to exert effort to achieve it. He is engaged in that activity, after which a reward is granted.

United will resume play midweek by hosting Barnsley from League One in the third round of the Carabao Cup. The Red Devils will visit Crystal Palace for their upcoming Premier League match on Saturday.
