Garnacho Speaks Out on Ruben Amorim Treatment Before Chelsea Move

The Argentine winger transferred from Manchester United to Chelsea during the summer transfer window.

Alejandro Garnacho, a former Manchester United winger, complained about the treatment he received from Ruben Amorim prior to his summer transfer to Chelsea.

Garnacho, 21, started Chelsea’s 1-0 Champions League league phase victory over Benfica on Jose Mourinho’s return to Stamford Bridge.

The kid showed promise but did not score in Enzo Maresca’s rather low-key triumph.

The 21-year-old was making his fourth appearance for the Blues after joining from Manchester United for £40 million in August.

Garnacho’s United career ended on a sour note, having fallen out of favour with Red Devils head coach Amorim following the Europa League final defeat to Spurs in Bilbao in May.

He was unhappy after being benched for the final and expressed his displeasure in a post-match interview.

“Up until the final, I played every round helping the team, and today I play 20 minutes, I don’t know,” Garnacho stated at the time.

Garnacho was later said to have been advised by Amorim to look for a new club before joining the club’s so-called ‘bomb squad’ alongside Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Antony and Tyrell Malacia.

Antony, who has since joined with La Liga team Real Betis, recently described his experience being frozen out as “very tough” and claimed he felt “disrespected” by the football club.

“The months in England were extremely challenging, with over 40 days spent in hotels and separate training… “I feel they disrespected me, but that’s not the point,” Antony told Onda Cero, according to Sport Witness.

On Tuesday, Garnacho discussed his own experience during his final days as a United player.

Speaking to TNT Sports, the Argentina international stated, “I suppose it was a difficult moment there, just training alone.

“But I have nothing unpleasant to say about my former club, Manchester United.

“It was just a bad moment in life, but now I’m very happy to be here and to play in this competition and to get the three points today.”

When asked if now participating in the Champions League made his troubles at United worthwhile, Garnacho responded, “Of course, definitely.

“When we were young, we dreamed of playing Champions League evenings, and now we’re here, so I’m extremely pleased.

“It’s three major points. We needed that after losing our first game, so we’re all delighted.”

Chelsea return to Premier League play against Liverpool on Saturday.
