This post is part of Football League World’s ‘Terrace Talk’ series, which features personal comments from FLW Fan Pundits on breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings, and more.
Since Sheffield Wednesday entered administration in late October, a number of names have been connected with a prospective takeover.
Begbies Traynor, the Owls’ administrators, is looking to replace Dejphon Chansiri as owner.
It has been claimed that up to 11 parties have expressed significant interest in purchasing the Championship team.
It is alleged that they have all provided proof of funding in the amount of £50 million in order to be evaluated, with a soft deadline for initial bids set for November 21.
The administrators hope to select a preferred bidder by December 5 in order to resolve the current issue as quickly as possible.
Sheffield Wednesday owners’ preferences

When asked who their preferred candidate to take over the club is at this point, FLW’s Sheffield Wednesday fan analyst Patrick McKenna stated that there is no instant name at the top of his list.
His main aim is that whoever succeeds Chansiri would work to build a solid relationship with the fans, invest in the team’s infrastructure, and reinvigorate the Yorkshire outfit.
“I don’t think it would be fair to say that I do have a chosen one, I’m just delighted that so many people seem interested in buying the club,” McKenna told Football League World at the time.
“And obviously, at this point, people are fronting the £50 million and gaining access to the data room.
“So, ultimately, I simply want nice owners, whatever they are, because we know very little about many of them.
“So it’s difficult to judge, I suppose.
“The only ones I know about are Mike Ashley, but it may not be him, and all I want is an owner who will look to revive the club, rebuild the infrastructure, change the club’s ethos, and get us battling again.
“And, whatever the owners are, I hope they connect with the club and respect us as supporters as the administrators have done.
“Ultimately, the highest bidder will win, so I just hope that the person chosen will be the best person for the club.”
Sheffield Wednesday have had a difficult 2025 off the pitch, which has had a significant impact on their capacity to compete on the field.
The Owls sit at the bottom of the Championship table, and the EFL’s 12-point deduction penalty for going into administration has only made matters worse.
After just 15 games, Henrik Pedersen’s squad is 17 points from safety and faces relegation at the conclusion of the season.
Sheffield Wednesday’s next game is a massive home duel against arch rivals Sheffield United on November 23rd at 12pm.

There is no shortage of options for Sheffield Wednesday takeover.
The fact that Sheffield Wednesday has up to 11 credible candidates for manager is a good sign.
It also makes it impossible to form an immediate preference for who should take over, because so much remains unknown about all 11 potential bidders.
Supporters will want to see someone replace Chansiri who has the club’s best interests at heart, as well as the financial resources to carry out their vision for the team.
There is definitive light at the end of the tunnel for supporters in this painful journey, and that is reason enough to be optimistic about what the future holds at Hillsborough.
