Former Manchester United players could make a surprise return to the Premier League.
Former Manchester United midfielder Fred might make a surprise return to the Premier League, as one team has expressed interest.
Fred left United in the summer of 2023 for Turkish club Fenerbahce for a reported amount of £8.62 million, plus an extra £4.31 million in potential add-ons, five years after arriving from Shakhtar Donetsk for £47 million.
Since then, the Brazilian has made 80 appearances for his new club and is enjoying life under former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho, who succeeded Ismail Kartal in the dugout in June of last year.
However, it appears that Fred’s time with the Turkish giants is coming to an end, with sources claiming that Mourinho has chosen to sell him to make room for a slew of new arrivals.
And if he leaves Fenerbahce this summer, he might return to England, with a Premier League team reportedly mulling a bid.

According to Turkish publication Sozcu Spor, via the Daily Mail, Fenerbahce is willing to let Fred go for as little as £15 million this summer.
Everton is thought to be interested in such a low price, as they aim to bolster their team after an impressive season in which they finished 13th in the Premier League standings following the return of manager David Moyes.
According to the source, club executives are ready to support Moyes, who sees Fred as a priority acquisition, ahead of their debut encounter at the new Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Fred’s contract with Fenerbahce is slated to end in 2027, so Everton will need to start negotiations if they want to sign him this summer.

In order to do so, it appears that the Toffees are willing to allow star striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin leave the club in the coming weeks after failing to reach an agreement on fresh terms.
Everton initially intended to keep the 28-year-old, but it has now been stated that he is considering a move abroad, with Italy his preferred destination.
