Coventry City transfer news from CoventryLive, as Frank Lampard puts out his hopes and targets for the next January transfer window.
Frank Lampard has addressed Coventry City’s interest in Gambia international Abdoulie Manneh and stated that he intends to strengthen his squad during the upcoming January transfer window.
According to various sources from Sweden in recent weeks, the Sky Blues are leading the pursuit for the 21-year-old forward’s signing following the end of the Scandinavian season, during which he won the Swedish top flight title with Mjällby AIF.
When asked if there is any reality to the claims linking the Championship club with Manneh, Lampard said: “I can’t say anything about it because he isn’t one of our players. We’re always looking for ways to improve, and I believe that this year, in particular, we have a tight, if thin, group.

“There are some benefits to that in terms of making everyone feel included, but throughout the course of the season, you are challenged with games, injuries, form, and all of that. So it’s absolutely something we’ll consider in January when deciding what we can do to aid the squad.
“Individually, I can’t comment but in terms of looking ahead to January then it’s something we’re considering because there haven’t been that many new additions.”
When asked if he is actively looking to acquire a few more players to enhance his squad in January, the head coach responded: “Yeah, in terms of a 25-man squad, including goalkeepers, we’re at around 20.” It’s mostly first-team players without some of the younger players who help us a lot in training, but I believe we have one of the leanest squads in the league.
“And that has been the continuity, certainly since I came here, in terms of not having a lot of change around. I believe the only players missing from last week’s team were Rushy and Grimes. The remainder of the players had been here since day one.
“That’s nice because you get to work with them, but if we can improve the squad, we must do so. It must be to provide genuine competition or to improve in areas; otherwise, there is no point. But I think for the long term of what this season will bring, and obviously looking beyond, that’s always part of our discussions here.”
