Former Man United star rejects insane ‘£100,000-per-week offer’ from West Ham as he knows his former side want to re-sign him this summer

According to reports, a former player for Manchester United has’rejected’ a contract offer from West Ham United. This is because the player is ‘waiting’ to re-sign with the Red Devils, despite the fact that he has garnered interest from a number of top European clubs.

The 2024/25 seasons for both West Ham and Manchester United have been relatively unsuccessful. The team led by Graham Potter is currently in sixteenth place in the Premier League, while the team led by Ruben Amorim is currently in thirteenth place.

As a result of the fact that Manchester United added young players Ayden Heaven and Patrick Dorgu to their rosters during the winter transfer window, it is highly likely that both clubs will look to add players to their rosters during the summer.

In the meantime, Potter, who is 49 years old and has been the head coach of the Hammers since January, has not yet welcomed a permanent signing to the club. The only addition to the squad is Evan Ferguson, a forward who is 20 years old and has been loaned from Brighton until the end of the season.

It was reported by The Guardian earlier in March that the East London club has shown interest in Lille and England center-midfielder Angel Gomes. However, the club has shown interest in Gomes.

Currently 24 years old, Gomes primarily plays the position of holding midfielder. He was an integral member of the England Under-21 team that triumphed at the European Championship in 2023. Since then, he has been awarded four caps at the senior level playing for England.

The report indicates that West Ham made a proposal for a deal that would be worth £100,000 per week; however, it is highly likely that they will not be able to sign the player because his contract will expire this summer.

A report from the Manchester Evening News (MEN) in February suggested that Gomes might be of interest to Manchester United, despite the fact that he will be leaving the club in 2020 after having difficulty breaking into the first team.

Although he has previously admitted that it would be “difficult to say no” to a return to his boyhood club if the opportunity presented itself, Barcelona is also said to be interested in the 24-year-old player. There are also reports that Barcelona is interested in the player.

“There’ll always be that sentimental soft spot, so of course it’d be difficult to say no,” Gomes said in an interview with The Times in October.

Despite the fact that it would be incredible if I were to achieve happiness in another country, I am aware that playing in the Premier League is not the crowning achievement of my life.

It is expected that Gomes will join his next club as a free transfer because his current contract is scheduled to expire in the month of June.
