Barry Bannan, a Sheffield Wednesday legend, was captured in poignant moments in front of the away end at Bristol City’s Ashton Gate after supposedly playing his final game for the club.
However, there has been much conjecture in the past week that Bannan will move during the transfer window, with Millwall reportedly pursuing the midfielder.

Barry Bannan appeared to be saying goodbye to the Sheffield Wednesday faithful.
While there has been no official confirmation of a transfer, Bannan’s response at the full-time whistle after the 2-0 defeat to the Robins implies he is about to leave – Mike McGrath has reported that Millwall have scheduled a physical for the Scotsman on Sunday.
The 36-year-old was visibly distraught as he was pushed forward by his teammates to stand alone at first as the supporters expressed their thanks; not long after, he was applauded off the field by both sets of fans and players at Ashton Gate.
In the video, published on social media by writer Rob Staton, Bannan stands for around two minutes, thanking the fans as they shout his name, before his teammates move forward to hug the important captain.
If Bannan does sign for Millwall, he will join a team that is currently in the play-offs, with the Lions hoping to gain promotion to the Premier League this season.
Barry Bannan deserves a special farewell from Sheffield Wednesday.
This is a sad day for everyone associated with Sheffield Wednesday, since Bannan has done so much for the club on the pitch over the years.
In addition to his tremendous technical talent, which fans have enjoyed seeing, Bannan has demonstrated the type of loyalty that is rare in today’s game.

He has previously declined the option to play at a higher level, and he has taken wage cuts to stay with the Yorkshire club, which will not be forgotten by the fans during what has been a difficult moment in their history in recent years.
It’s unfortunate for the Owls that Bannan will not be able to conclude his playing career at Hillsborough, but the opportunity to join Millwall at this stage of his career will be appealing, as he might be a part of a memorable promotion drive in the coming months.
The Lions are scheduled to face Wednesday at Hillsborough on February 14, and it will be unusual for Wednesday if Bannan lines up for the opposition that day, though he will undoubtedly receive a warm welcome.
