FINALLY DONE: Arsenal highjacked Spurs transfer target with a mouth-watering offer to convince the South American superstar to join for Arsenal on a five-year agreement. Arteta’s fourth signing is confirmed.

Arsenal, after signing Martin Zubimendi, Kepa Arrizabalaga, and Christian Norgaard this summer, is reportedly close to signing their next player.

The Gunners have yet to make an official summer signing, but speculations suggest that they are close to confirming agreements for Zubimendi, Arrizabalaga, and Norgaard.

These additions are a good start for Arsenal’s summer transfer window, but they still need to make a statement after placing second in the Premier League for the third straight season and failing to win a trophy in 2024/25.

It is widely known that their top goal is to sign a striker, since they have been punished for failing to sign a new forward in the previous two windows, with injuries to Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz leaving Mikel Arteta without a recognised No.9 during the 24/25 season.

According to reports, they are considering signing RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko or Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres, but two considerations favor one striker over the other.

However, their fourth acquisition is expected to be a centre-back, as they pursue Valencia’s Cristhian Mosquera.

The 21-year-old represented Spain at the U21 European Championships this summer, following 41 appearances in all competitions for Valencia during the 2024/25 season.

Arsenal already has two of the top centre-backs in the Premier League in William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes, but they are looking ahead with Mosquera as sources suggest Jakub Kiwior could go to Serie A in the summer.

According to a report on Thursday, the Gunners have made Mosquera a ‘priority’ target and are on the verge of closing a deal.

Spanish outlet Las Provincias claim Mosquera has changed his mind about his future because he is ‘weary’ of waiting for Valencia and has’reached an agreement’ with Arsenal as his ‘future points to the Premier League’.

And, with a striker deal still in the works, their next addition following Mosquera might be a reinforcement in another position as they pursue Crystal Palace standout Eberechi Eze.

Earlier this week, a source claimed that the Gunners are ‘considering hijacking’ Spurs in the hunt to sign the England international, who has a £68 million release clause.

According to reporter Fraser Fletcher of TEAMtalk, Eze is’very satisfied’ with Arsenal’s offer, and his’response encouraging’ to the Gunners, albeit Spurs are a’major threat’.

The report includes:

‘Arsenal have made an approach for Eze. On June 26, the Gunners presented Eze with a contract, which TEAMtalk knows the offensive midfielder is quite pleased with.

‘Sources say there would be no problem with the 26-year-old accepting personal terms with Arsenal.’
