Fans notice one major difference in Thomas Tuchel’s first England match compared to Gareth Southgate’s time in charge

After watching England for the very first time under the direction of Thomas Tuchel, fans have been sharing their reactions on social media.

Tuchel finally took charge of his first England match on Friday night, five months after he agreed to take over as Gareth Southgate’s replacement in October of 2024.

However, the German had to wait until this week to begin working with the England players, despite having started his role in January.

With twenty minutes remaining on the clock, England took the lead thanks to a goal scored by Myles Lewis-Skelly, a star player for Arsenal, who was making his debut there. The crowd at Wembley Stadium was packed.

As the second half progressed, England made numerous attempts to score a second goal, but they were met with a resolute defence from Albania.

After some time, England was able to score their second goal, which was scored by their captain Harry Kane in the 78th minute.

After all was said and done, the home team prevailed with a score of 2-0, providing Tuchel with the ideal beginning to his tenure as the new head coach of the Three Lions.

A significant difference has been observed by fans in response to Tuchel’s debut performance, particularly in comparison to England’s performance under Southgate.

A supporter expressed their admiration for Tuchel on social media, saying, “Tuchel is winning me over so far. I’ve never seen an England team press in my life.”

For the entirety of my life, I have been waiting for an England manager who has a high press,” said another person on Twitter. Think I’m going to have a good time playing tuchel ball.”

An additional supporter stated, “The press by us.” Indeed, Tuchel, you are the one.

An additional individual wrote, “It is clear that there has been a significant shift in the England team at this point.” When a member of the team loses possession of the ball, the speed and quick reaction to press for the ball. The work that Thomas Tuchel is doing is outstanding, man.

I am impressed with England so far, said the fifth person who commented. Tuchel’s bow was played with a level of intensity that is not typically seen on occasions of this nature, although I believe that was to be expected. An excellent counter-press, runners are the key to unlocking low block’s potential.

In the words of yet another supporter, “The intensity in the press is SO GOOD.”

In their next match, which will take place at Wembley Stadium on Monday, England will be back in action.
