After the release of new training footage, fans of England are pleading with Thomas Tuchel to play one player in the position that is considered to be the “correct position.”
On Friday, Tuchel will take charge of his first match as manager of the Three Lions. The match will be a World Cup qualifier between England and Albania, and it will take place at Wembley Stadium.
After announcing his 26-man squad for the matches against Albania and Latvia, the German’s starting XI selection is, without a doubt, one of the most eagerly anticipated in recent history.
Among the many familiar faces that have been brought back into the lineup is Jordan Henderson, who was one of the players who was brought back to add more experience to the ranks.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Morgan Rogers, and Tino Livramento are among the individuals who are hoping to earn the first of what they hope will be a great number of caps representing the Three Lions.
The star player for Manchester City, Phil Foden, will also be the subject of a great deal of mystery.
Over the course of a considerable amount of time, the attacking midfielder has not been able to find consistent form for England. Former England manager Gareth Southgate frequently preferred to use him on the left side of attack.
In addition to playing the number 10 position, Foden has also been utilised on the right side of the field and in a slightly deeper positioning in the middle of the field.
Fans are desperate for Tuchel to deploy Foden in what they consider to be his “correct” position if he is given the opportunity to start on Friday. This is because they have seen footage of the City star in training.
In the video, Foden and Eberechi Eze, who is also a midfielder, can be seen attempting to keepie-uppies before launching long passes to each other on the volley. As the video comes to a close, Foden makes a shot that eventually finds its way into the bottom corner of the net.
In response to the video that was uploaded to TikTok, one member of the audience commented, “Just play Foden in his correct position.”
I heard a second person say, “Foden is just too technical.”
To which a third individual added, “Foden is underrated, and the fact that he is a star cannot be changed by a single season.”
A fourth individual wrote, “Foden and Eze are playing like they’re Brazilian.”
While this was going on, another individual expressed a slightly different viewpoint, saying, “Put Foden in that Spain team, and you will see a serious player.”
