Fabrizio Romano: Birmingham Set to Agree Deal with South American Star

Birmingham City are close to acquiring Girona midfielder Jhon Solis, with negotiations between the teams nearing completion, according to GIVEMESPORT senior writer Fabrizio Romano.

The Championship club is ready to continue their busy start to the January transfer window, with defender Kai Wagner joining from MLS side Philadelphia Union.

Solis’ team is apparently aiming to finalize the deal within the next few hours, with the Colombian midfielder set to leave Girona for a new challenge after two and a half years with the Catalan club.

This season, the 21-year-old has appeared in 12 La Liga games, three of which he started.

Romano reported on X that Birmingham are close to a deal for Solis, with negotiations between the teams nearing completion.

Solis joined Girona from Colombian club Atletico Nacional in September 2023, but has struggled to establish himself as a regular first-team member since.

To far, the 21-year-old has made 15 starts in all competitions for the La Liga club, scoring one goal and assisting once.

He helped Girona qualify for the Champions League for the first time in club history in his first season, and he appeared five times off the bench in the competition the following season.

Solis played in defeats against Liverpool and Arsenal, as well as a setback to eventual champions Paris Saint-Germain.

The 21-year-old has represented Colombia at the under-15 and under-16 levels, but has yet to be called up to the senior team.

Birmingham Completes Second January Signing.

Birmingham have officially signed 21-year-old winger Abdoulie Manneh, according to GIVEMESPORT senior writer Neil Moxley.

The Blues have struck a permanent contract with Swedish club Mjallby for the promising attacker’s arrival, and Manneh is set to complete the transfer in the coming hours.

The Gambian international scored seven goals in a breakthrough season in the Allsvenskan and is regarded as one of the most promising possibilities in Sweden’s top league.

Manneh’s arrival is likely to see Lewis Koumas return to Liverpool before the transfer window closes, with the Welsh winger making only five Championship games since joining last summer.
