According to The Sun, Chelsea might face disciplinary action from the FA after Moises Caicedo slammed Brighton defender Jan Paul Van Hecke during their 3-1 loss at Stamford Bridge.
On Saturday afternoon, Enzo Maresca’s team suffered their second Premier League loss of the season, with Danny Welbeck and Maxim de Cuyper scoring late goals to give the visitors all three points.
Chelsea took the lead in the first half thanks to Enzo Fernandez’s headed goal, but were reduced to 10 men in the 53rd minute when Trevoh Chalobah was sent off for a reckless challenge on Georginio Rutter.
This was the second consecutive weekend in which the Blues had a player sent off, following Robert Sanchez’s early dismissal in their 2-1 defeat at Manchester United.
As tensions rose late in the second half, Caicedo was fortunate not to be booked for an apparent attack on Van Hecke, which may potentially land Chelsea in worse trouble.
FA ‘will investigate’ The Moises Caicedo Incident

According to The Sun, the FA may investigate Caicedo’s altercation with Van Hecke after the Ecuador international seemed to attack the Brighton defender in ‘a frantic fit of rage’ late in the second half.
Following Caicedo’s conduct, Van Hecke was seen falling to the ground and writhing in pain, and the FA, according to ex-Premier League referee Mark Halsey, will investigate the incident.
The Sun reported Halsey as saying:
“It appears that Caicedo engaged in violent behaviour, but the video does not provide conclusive evidence.”
“And VAR reviewed the footage and agreed that it was inconclusive.
“The FA will now investigate and look into it again.
“Both teams will face charges of failing to control their players. There is no doubt about that, but the FA will investigate and may take retrospective punishment against Caicedo.
“But, as I say, looking at it, it does look as though it’s inconclusive.”
Chelsea’s 3-1 defeat extended their Premier League winless record, with the Blues still looking for a top-flight victory since the September international break.
Their solitary success since the beginning of the month came in the EFL Cup third round, a 2-1 away win over Lincoln City, in which the Blues conceded first before mounting a second-half comeback.
Chelsea will play back-to-back home games next, hosting Benfica in the Champions League on Tuesday and reigning champions Liverpool the following weekend.
