Wrexham AFC has an intriguing mid-season transfer window finale ahead of next week’s February 2 deadline, with the Red Dragons eager to further flex their financial muscles and embolden the club’s promotion ambitions. Football League World can exclusively reveal an important development in one of numerous player pursuits.
Wrexham have yet to make any additions in this month’s window after bringing in 13 new recruits the previous summer following a third consecutive promotion to the Championship, and departures have been sanctioned instead, with both James McClean and Andy Cannon leaving the SToK Cae Ras, and Conor Coady close to a loan move to Charlton Athletic.
The Red Dragons will be hoping to use their improved league form to persuade prospective new signings to move to North Wales, with Phil Parkinson’s side now in sixth place after a dramatic 3-2 victory over QPR on Saturday afternoon as they aim for their first-ever Premier League promotion.
Indeed, Parkinson reportedly traveled to France to watch high-profile striker target Sidiki Cherif play for Angers against Paris FC, amid reports of a stunning £19 million bid, and they have also been linked with Southampton talisman Adam Armstrong, Sheffield Wednesday’s Yan Valery, and, most recently, Ipswich Town forward Sammie Szmodics.
Wrexham AFC submits Barnsley, Davis Keillor-Dunn transfer proposal.
Earlier this month, Football League World exclusively revealed that Wrexham and fellow top-six aspirants Bristol City were interested in signing in-demand Barnsley prodigy Davis Keillor-Dunn.
That agreement could now be ready to proceed, with FLW learning of a significant advance in Wrexham’s efforts.

FLW can tell that Wrexham have followed up their interest with an official bid for Keillor-Dunn with less than a week left in the current window, as the forward’s future at Oakwell remains uncertain.
For the time being, the particular details of the bid and whether it would be accepted by the powers that be in South Yorkshire remain unknown, though sources told FLW at the beginning of January that Barnsley are eager to sell Keillor-Dunn for the right price.
The 28-year-old has piqued the curiosity of many clubs, including Blackburn Rovers, Middlesbrough, and Preston North End, according to sources.
Wrexham, of course, has the financial resources to make a deal happen if they so desire, therefore it would be unsurprising to see a transfer for Keillor-Dunn nearing completion in the coming days.
Barnsley’s Davis Keillor-Dunn has had great League One form amid the Wrexham AFC transfer pursuit.
The continued interest in Keillor-Dunn’s signing comes after another eye-catching season in League One, with the versatile attacker having scored 11 goals in just 23 divisional outings for the Tykes at the time of writing.

Keillor-Dunn had 19 goals and seven assists in all competitions in his debut season at Barnsley after coming from Mansfield Town, including a goal in his team’s 2-1 victory over Wrexham on New Year’s Day.
With Barnsley still struggling for stability in mid-table, there is a growing sense that Keillor-Dunn has just outgrown the club at this point in his career, and supporters are increasingly persuaded that he will make the step up to the Championship without them.
