QPR are preparing to approve additional outgoings ahead of the February 2 transfer deadline, and Sam Field is expected to leave Loftus Road this month, with a number of interested parties monitoring his status, Football League World has discovered.
Just yesterday, FLW exclusively announced that Alfie Lloyd was set to join League One promotion contenders Lincoln City on loan for the rest of the season.
FLW also reported Murphy Cooper’s loan move to Championship crisis club Sheffield Wednesday last week, following his half-season tenure at Barnsley, with the shot-stopper, like Lloyd, being returned from a temporary stint elsewhere to secure a new deal.
Meanwhile, 25-year-old midfielder Elijah Dixon-Bonner has joined Wealdstone on loan, and striker Michael Frey is expected to leave West London before the end of the month after seeing his playing time drastically cut under Julien Stephan.
The Frenchman is aiming to lead QPR into the play-offs this season, with the club now four points behind sixth-placed Preston North End.
The Loftus Road faithful will be hoping for more signings in the coming week to add to the two permanent acquisitions of popular defender Ronnie Edwards and Justin Obikwu from Coventry City, but Stephan continues to intend on streamlining his squad, which is expected to have a significant impact on Field’s future at the club.
As the Loftus Road exit approaches, a twist in Sam Field’s QPR transfer is revealed.
Football League World can exclusively report that Field is certain to depart QPR before the window closes in early February, with a decision on the midfielder’s future appearing to have already been taken.

FLW understands that a number of QPR’s Championship rivals, as well as MLS clubs, are lining up offers for the 27-year-old, who has played a more peripheral role with the play-off contenders since Stephan’s hiring last summer.
Field has plenty of suitors both locally and internationally, despite starting only nine of his 15 games for the Hoops this season, frequently trailing Nicolas Madsen and Jonathan Varane in Stephan’s two-man starting midfield.
The West Bromwich Albion academy product has made nearly 200 appearances for QPR since joining the club permanently from the Baggies in June 2021, and had a standout 2022/23 season, appearing in every Championship game and winning both the Fan’s and Player’s Player of the Season awards at Loftus Road.
However, Field’s value to QPR has declined in recent years, and the departure door now beckons.
QPR’s Sam Field would be a valuable signing for several Championship clubs.
Field has lost his way at QPR this season and is no longer the crucial midfield pillar he once was, but that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be a wise addition to a number of second-tier clubs.

He’s a consistent ball-winning midfielder with vast Championship experience and knowledge, and that profile clearly appeals to a number of suitors.
Field signed a contract extension last summer, the length of which is unknown, but with the midfielder no longer a key player in the club’s ambitions, it’s no wonder that second-tier rivals are eager to sign him over the remainder of this month’s transfer window.
