Exclusive: Everton ‘Set to Issue Hands-Off Warning’ Over £50m Star

Since David Moyes was hired as Sean Dyche’s replacement on a two-and-a-half-year contract in January, the Toffees have managed to pull themselves out of a relegation dogfight. Their recent surge in play has allowed them to move 17 points clear of the Premier League’s drop zone and make plans before they can make changes to the team.

Less than a year ago, Amadou Onana was approved to complete a £50 million transfer to domestic rivals Aston Villa because of concerns about breaking spending regulations. However, Everton is now in a more stable financial situation and is willing to fight to keep Branthwaite.

Branthwaite Will Not Be Offloaded by the Toffees
Giants from Merseyside are keen to retain the one-cap England player.

Regardless of whether he is persuaded to sign new terms in the upcoming months, powerful people behind the scenes have no intention of letting Branthwaite take on a new challenge. GMS sources claim that Everton is planning to issue a hands-off warning in an effort to discourage admirers from trying to strike a summer deal for him.

With just two years left on a contract that pays £35,000 per week, the central defender has interested parties wondering if the next transfer window will be a chance to jump in. However, the Toffees want him to commit to the team for the long run rather than entertain offers.

According to GMS sources, Everton is eager to give Branthwaite a better contract after he makes the team sheet as one of the first players when healthy and is regarded as a valuable member of the team that they want to start when they move to their new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.

The 22-year-old’s current employers are not under any pressure to approve his departure in the summer, despite rumours that he is considering quitting the Toffees after being left out of England head coach Thomas Tuchel’s first team since taking over.

As plans are made for the first full season since Branthwaite returned to Merseyside for a second stint at the helm, Everton is determined that rumours that he is looking to go will not come to pass, according to GMS sources. Moyes is keen to make sure he is still one of his alternatives.

Liverpool Among Sides Wanting Branthwaite

Premier League table-toppers have been circling for centre-back

Since Branthwaite and James Tarkowski have established a strong partnership at the backline, Everton has a lofty valuation of over £50 million, according to sources, and an offer in that range would not be sufficient to entice them to cash in during the summer transfer window.

The one-cap England international, who has been dubbed “special” by Sky Sports analyst Jamie Carragher, has been drawing interest from Premier League teams and foreign teams due to his steady performances, and the Toffees are willing to hold firm if bids are made for him.

Although Branthwaite has drawn interest in La Liga, Everton’s position will be a major setback to table-topping arch-rivals Liverpool and Manchester United, who are among the biggest teams vying for his services before to the 2025–2026 season.

According to GMS sources, the former PSV Eindhoven loanee has gained Real Madrid’s attention. As a result, discussions are taking place inside the Bernabeu over whether they should try to entice him to Spain by making a high-profile bid when the time comes in the summer.
