Every Premier League Team Ranked by Injuries Suffered in 2024/25

The 2024–2025 season had a number of injuries that Premier League teams had to cope with.
Both Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton & Hove Albion sustained numerous serious injuries.
The league table showed how much more fit Nottingham Forest and Liverpool were.
Football injuries are a natural aspect of the game. While some Premier League teams suffer significant setbacks, a small number of teams survive the full season largely unharmed. Teams like Manchester United and Newcastle United had their share of injury problems in 2023–2024, as shown by their disappointing season-ending results by their own standards.

As the 2024–25 season comes to an end, a number of injuries have slipped up on teams around the nation, ranging from the well-known injury to Martin Odegaard to the less well-known knock of James Milner.

Here, all 20 Premier League teams from the 2024–25 season were ranked according to the severity of their injury problems using data from an in-depth report from The Athletic via Premier Injuries. The rankings were based on the number of injuries each team has suffered this season that have caused players to miss at least one game, as well as the total number of days that all of the club’s players have missed due to injury.

Spurs and Brighton are one of three teams with 40 or more injuries.

According to statistics, three teams who compete in the top division—Brighton & Hove Albion, Tottenham Hotspur, and Ipswich Town—were most affected by injuries, particularly in terms of the quantity of injuries. Over the course of the season, these clubs have had to deal with at least 40 separate injuries, albeit having differing numbers of lost games.

Under the new leadership of Fabian Hurzeler, Brighton, who were managed by one of the youngest managers in Premier League history, sustained 48 injuries, including Solly March, James Milner, and Joel Veltman, as they fought for European slots. Joao Pedro and Danny Welbeck, both talismanic attackers, were sidelined with injuries at some point throughout the year, which ruined their attempt. The Seagulls are also more than 390 days ahead of their closest rivals in terms of missing days.

In order to keep everyone healthy and playing well in their fight to stay in the top leagues, newly promoted Ipswich, who will play in the second division of England next season, would have been desperate to keep everyone out of the treatment room. However, they sustained a ton of injuries, which is equal to the number suffered by Ange Postecoglou’s Europa League-winning Spurs team.

The most noticeable absence was that of defender Micky van de Ven, but the turbulent north Londoners had to contend with a long list of severe injury issues as they finished 17th in the Premier League standings. Arsenal, their capital club’s most formidable opponents, also experienced a number of injury issues.

Aston Villa did the same. Tyrone Mings, Leon Bailey, Boubacar Kamara, and Matty Cash were among the players who missed time in the final months of the 2024–25 Premier League season. Unai Emery’s team had to cope with 35 injuries in all, but fortunately for the team that was securing the Europa League, their lengthy list of injuries only resulted in 804 days lost.

Liverpool and Arne Slot Gained From Few Injuries
A healthy team helped the Reds win the title, unlike Man City.

The level of fitness maintained by the competing teams from the beginning to the end of a campaign is a critical factor in any title battle. If any of the contenders experience an injury problem, it could have a lasting impact on their performance at the top of the rankings. Fortunately, Arne Slot’s Liverpool team was unaffected by injuries during their championship season.

The league rankings for the most of the season showed how Manchester City and Liverpool, under the leadership of Pep Guardiola and the aforementioned Slot, respectively, had quite contrasting fortunes. Although Guardiola’s club has been outside the top four for a large portion of the season, they are currently the eighth-highest-ranked team in the league on this ranking due to 33 injuries. With 1,134 days wasted, the Citizens came in sixth place.

When it came to the Reds, there wasn’t much to be upset about overall. Even though players like Diogo Jota and Alisson Becker, who is considered by many to be among the best goalkeepers in Premier League history, occasionally missed games due to injury, many of the key players were healthy from August to May, and only two other English top flight teams, Nottingham Forest and West Ham United, had fewer absences throughout the season.

Challengers to the Champions League Did Well
In 24/25, Newcastle and Chelsea both sustained 25 injuries.

The race for Europe heated up towards the end of the 2024–25 season, with both Enzo Maresca and Eddie Howe’s teams securing their spots in the Champions League for the following season. This was due to teams like Chelsea being as good as they have been in recent years and Newcastle United returning to their previous level of play two years ago.

Compared to the rest of the league, the two top tier teams did fairly well in terms of injuries. Despite missing 828 days overall due to injuries, the Blues are the sixth-luckiest club in the division with just 24 injuries, according to the research. Nevertheless, captain Reece James, who has established himself as one of the greatest injury-prone players, was still frequently absent.

Newcastle has accumulated 25 injuries overall, although their combined total of 779 days has decreased by 49 days. For the Magpies, Alexander Isak’s fitness has been very crucial. The Swede demonstrated to other clubs in the league how crucial having a clinical number nine is when he scored in eight consecutive Premier League games in December.

West Ham Utd Bottom of the Pile For Days Missed

The Hammers, alongside Nottingham Forest, were struck lightly

Given how fortunate they have been with injuries, West Ham United must rank among the sides that have put on some truly poor performances. Although Graham Potter has only recently joined the London Stadium, his predecessor, Julen Lopetegui, had no grievances regarding his dismissal after leading the Hammers to a poor start to the season, which was exacerbated by the fact that no team has experienced fewer days missed overall this year (672).

On the other hand, it is clear that Nottingham Forest, under Nuno Espirito Santo, should consider themselves fortunate to have avoided the fury of a major injury issue. They experienced a division low of 20 injuries in 2024–2025, which enabled them to qualify for European football in the Europa Conference League. They made a sincere effort to place in the top four for a while, but their form was unachievable for those associated with the City Ground team.

Everyone was taken aback by Nottingham Forest’s performance this season. Chris Wood and other players’ performances were completely unexpected, but the Garibaldi’s remarkable campaign-long form was partly due to their excellent squad management, as they only sustained 20 injuries during their unexpected ascent to the top. However, they ended up finishing eighth, so that didn’t happen.
