Erik ten Hag to get rid of Bayer Leverkusen player for the second time after selling him to the club while in charge of Man Utd

According to sources, Erik ten Hag is planning to sell the same player to two different teams. The player departed Bayer Leverkusen when he was manager of Manchester United.

After a dismal start to the season, Ten Hag was fired by Manchester United in October and missed a significant amount of action.

After Xabi Alonso was promoted to manager of Real Madrid, he took the Leverkusen position, despite being connected to several other openings.

Despite the departure of important players Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, and Jonathan Tah, the Dutchman takes over a Leverkusen team that finished second last season following a historic double the year before.

Leverkusen has been active in the transfer market, though, most notably acquiring Mark Flekken from Brentford and Jarell Quansah from Liverpool.

The arrival of Flekken appears to be the end for compatriot goalie Matej Kovar, but he will battle with Finnish goalie Lukas Hradecky for the No. 1 shirt.

It should be noted that Kovar was previously moved on by Ten Hag, joining Leverkusen in 2023 for a reported £7.7 million.

Despite joining United at the age of 17, he did not play in the first team, instead spending time on loan at Sparta Prague, Burton Albion, and Swindon Town.

The Czech Republic international made 32 appearances over two seasons on a four-year deal, but according to The Mirror, he is moving to join PSV, the Eredivisie champions, in an attempt to establish himself as the team’s starting goalkeeper.

According to reports, the 25-year-old’s deal is worth approximately £3.5 million.

On July 18, Leverkusen takes on Flamengo’s Under 20 team to begin their preseason campaign. They will then play VFL Bochum, Fortuna Sittard, Pisa, and Chelsea.

Before they play Hoffenheim in their Bundesliga debut, Ten Hag’s first official match will be against SG in the DFB Pokal.
